Got a bugged offer from an agent - asking for contraband - no warning given.
Bought lots of the trade goods the agent was asking for BEFORE i realized that one of the tradegoods she was asking for was illegal. (proteine delicacies - NO DEADHEAD ON ICON!)
Got quite angry about having spend so much isk on the other (now useless) tradegoods that i bought, cancelled the screwed up mission and quit playing for the day.
Obviously due to this bugged mission i am now stuck with expensive useless tradegoods (worth around 8 mil isk - which i obviously want back!)
Question is: where do i petition that? (the agent mission is cancelled and NOT in progress) should i still petition under missions tab?

Edited by: Joshua Foiritain on 22/01/2005 16:43:56 I doubt youll get anything back. Since You dont have to accept agent offers and Protein Delics are marked illegal under their Legality tab.
The Deadskull only shows up if you are in a system where its illegal, Basicly only the Gallente Federation. Amarr, Minmatar and Caldari space you can haul it around without any problems.

Quote: Contact customer support if you have lost your ship to this. This is a bug and will be fixed. Agents should not ask you to do contraband missions without explicitly informing you of the risk and the reward according to that risk.
Quoted from Oveur(EveDevTeam)
Joshua check forums before reply.
Also i checked the icons while i was in gallente space - and protein delicacis had NO deadhead.
Still waiting for an answer from someone official.

Sorry, but this quote is about contrabant missions, not contrabant offers.
The problem with contrabant missions was, that there was no way around the standing loss (decline the mission or smuggle the goods). These are fixed now. Quite a lot offers seem to need contraband items. I never saw a single warning. The problem is, that the needed items are not contrabant everywhere (as said above). So, depending on where your agent is stationed, the warning would be false.

What Oveur referrs to are "MISSIONS" not "OFFERS". A mission is not an offer, and an offer is not a mission...
For the offers is is common and normal that they ask for tons of conrtaband. You can argue that it is completely fubarred and that there is no way to get some amounts of ontraband into the designated system in a reasonable way without massive standing loss ect... You can also argue that the game still lacks a smuggler skill or module or ship or whatever way to make smuggling a bit more economically viable.
But you cannot argue that you weren't warned......Players were warned of the existence of contraband and it was the duty of the players to read that list and know which goods are on it.

You better check the forum yourself, as posted above that counts for missions.
Which was fixed, you no longer get contraband missions. Just contraband offers, which you dont have to accept.
Anyhow, the skull was supposed to show up when it shows up in your hangar. I dont think it shows on the market. Could be bugged, never had that type of itme myself but the rest of the drugs work fine.
As for the official reply, devs dont check all the topics so they might not have even read this.
Heres a free bump to the top anyway ---------------------------

Wish they'd just get rid of this contraband nonsense - it just gets on my **** and i stay clear of anything related to it - good idea in concept, too bloody complicated for game play. Bin it please CCP.

Edited by: Zrakor on 23/01/2005 03:58:48 Offers which ask for contraband goods are not bugged actually, they are like this by design. Now I'm not sure what type of warning you were expecting, but from the sound of it this is a bug with the icon not displaying the warning sign, which I believe is an icon bug and not related to the agent code itself. Also, missions are not the same thing as offers, completely different system. The agents will almost never ask you to fetch or transport contraband goods formally (aka missions), but they very well might ask you to retrieve some contraband for them in exchange for their own goods (aka offers).
That said I suggest you submit the icon issue as a bug report, and it should get dealt with quickly if it's as simple (albeit very annoying) as it sounds.

Well the problem is essentially that smuggling goods into systems where they are illegal has been too difficult. This is a fundamental problem that will be adressed. Scrapping the contraband offers is a little premature at this point.

will submit it as an icon bug then.
PS.: what is a little strange about offers is that i guess they are meant as a reward for agent loyality - atm unfortunatly they are more of a punishment.

Yes, it doesn't show the "skull" for Contraband Items in the offer's.
I currently have a offer requiring Viral Agents in Gallente space. And due to "inconsistant design"- you can't right-click on the icon in the offer to "Show Info" - but you have to double click the picture of the item to get a "show info".
Even there in the info sheet you dont have a "skull" in the picture, only the legality tab. So it's really easy to forget about that this is a contraband item under certain cirumstances (for intoxicated pilots). --------------------

Seems like an awful waste of time and effort on the part of the developers putting together agent offers involving contraband if there is no way to realistically complete the mission without some type of smuggler skill or smuggler ship, how about working on some of the bugs in this game instead. Most people will simply trash the offer and do the regular missions.

About the "icon bug" thingy....
Not sure if this still applies.... the icon graphic might have been cached from a previous version when it was not considered contraband. (I've experienced this first hand when ship/drone icons were changed etc....dunno if it's still there)
If that's the case, there has to be a way implemented into each patch to clear some parts of the cache.... not all players know enough to delete their cache files on their own

Sounds like "lets sue McDonalds for not telling us what coffee is hot". Man, read twice, do once, that's all.

Soon (tm) please, there are loads of offers I'd like to have accepted but wasn't able to for fear of customs tearing me a new one.
