I think there should of at least been a redo edit, while I love how this character turned out, my alt (and practice dummy) wasn't so lucky.

Why would you need to re-edit. That's the whole point of taking multiple snap shots before creating so that you can get it right before you hit the create button.

How about "don't release a product when it's half-finished"?
I don't think it is half-finished as there is no definite time where you can say it is finished.
At the moment we have a core feature. in the next few months I suspect we'll slowly receive more customisation options and the ability to edit our characters more often.

Because the snaps are about 4x4 pixels large and tell you next to nothing about what will actually show up. All those little details that you'll want to change do not show up, simply because of the size.
If they were at a decent resolution (or if you could click them and see the full-res version), then maybeà
àand that's made even more annoying by the fact that it seems like the snapshots actually use the full-scale images, but then munge them with a horridly lossy resize algorithm to produce those smaller images.
They're kind of useful if you alt-tab out and go into your cache and preview the images (at full res) manually, but having to do that in order to get a good idea of how the picture came out is not good design. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Your character is created at stage 3 which is big enough to see how it would look (although it can still be adjusted in stage 4). As for the portrait in stage 4 that's just how you look on your character page, so if it looks good as a taken picture then it should look ok ingame too (if using a small screen and low res you might have problems). Although it would have been better to have the size of the taken pictures in stage 4 to match the size of the character page image.

But that's just it: the picture is made with a different rendering mechanism and with a different "camera" than the one you use in the actual posing process (stage 4). What you see in stage 3 and 4 is not a good guide for how that picture will look due to these differences.
The only way to tell is by looking at the actual picture, which the game doesn't let you do unless you accept (and thus finalise, with no option to go back) the process. The only way to preview the result as it will appear in the game is by leaving the game and looking at the renders in the cache.
Yes, when Incarna comes along, the earlier stages will probably be a better guide for that appearance, but we'll still be using the "photo" for all other purposes, and right now there's a severe disconnect between how it turns out and what you're being shown (and what you can use to guide your decisions) before the process is finalised and the result is locked. The solution to this problem is to either letting us preview that finalised image and/or not locking the result. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I've said this once before, and it'll undoubtedly go in one ear and out the other, but some of you have some real entitlement issues. This is patch day. There's always a crapstorm on patch day. CCP releases probably one of the most intuitive, easy to use, and admittedly limited character creators, and a good number of you just complain about not being able to fix something 'cause you screwed up and got click happy or whatever. Did you not notice the sticky at the top of the forums about submitting a petition if you're not happy with your avatar? They had a contingency plan for this at least, regardless of if it's "NOW NOW NOW" like most of you seem to operate these days.
Relax, everything will be okay. Your fantabulous avatar will get fixed to your liking and everything will be cool. Maybe in the future, when walking in stations finally comes out, they'll have more options for clothing, and you'll be able to change clothing, get cosmetic surgery, have your genitals removed, whatever you may want to do. It's progressive, things move forward and while some might argue that the old character portraits were better, I for one very much prefer these, even if they are limited. |

I'm good with my characters, I can do without a re-edit, I just was under the false assumption that you could do it. Otherwise, this thread has been pretty awesome and fun, I didn't view it as a ***** fest at all.

Seriously? Seriously?
You people don't have the courtesy to reply to the hundreds of people asking for you to respond to their feedback on the unfinished mess of a character creator you just put out, but you have enough time to make a gay joke?
Disgusting.
Seriously grow up lol. You are taking all the fun out of the forums.
