So, for those of you who did not know, holding down CTRL key pre-incursion 1.1 used to lock the order of the entries in overview - meaning that they wont change position based on the sorting order while you hold it, and that the new entries on the overview, like ships warping in and decloaking after jumping the gate, will always go to the bottom of the overview list. Now it seems not to be the case anymore.
I would like to know why CCP changed this, is this by design or is it a bug?
I wont even bother naming the myriad ways in which this was incredibly useful, but ill just name a few, like knowing that when a ship pops if you hold the CTRL the pod will always appear on the bottom of the overview. Same for ships jumping into you through a stargate. You could just hold down CTRL to lock the overview and as a shortcut to lock targets, position your mouse just under the bottom most overview entry, and spam left click to target the new entries as fast as possible, giving you the greatest chance of catching pods and new ships on gates. This was very useful for ceptors and other frigates on roams.

Not to mention for the guy who's ship is popping, it's nice to be able to hit ctrl and select a gate to warp to without the overview jumping all over.

I'll have to agree, this NEEDS to come back in a working form. At least one way to lock up the overview temporarily will have to be in the game. Cant imagine doing pvp against fleets larger than 10 ships without being able to lock up the overview.

I've discovered this as well and frankly it makes decloaking on gates, targeting pods and all that goodie good stuff stupidly hard. CCP seriously is there nothing you can't break.

Yes this is a great issue. You actually need to hold the CTRL button for about a second before you can lock with it. CCP please fix this PLEASE!

All the key commands that allow you to lock -> CTRL, look -> ALT and Unlock -> CTRL+SHIFT appear to have a slight delay before the client switches to that mode. It appears this delay is built in rather than the result of a bug. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

that delay stops us from locking on targets like the pre-incursion let us. Pods, even some frigs get an edge now because of a second delay?
also drone control is even more messed up if you have a lock and you click on something else and then tell your drones to attack, they wont move a muscle you actually need to click on the guy and then give the command...it wasnt like this before.

I hope everyone who experienced these bugs filed a bug report to increase the chances of an actual CCP dev seeing this. ...

An even better option would be to bug report it, since CCP don't necessarily check this subforum as this is designed for players to help each other. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Yesterday I was at 0.01s from poping a ransomed pod... You know.. when you leave your gun pre-heated and a ship jump and you lock the pod that you should not lock instead (and disable all your pre-heated module before the lock is complete...)

cool Don't nerf those over 40 !, give us slightly older guys a chance not to fall too far behind the younger guys with a bit sharper eyes and a slight bit quicker reflexes .
If they're a few micro-seconds quicker they earned it, but if those few micro seconds mean that it takes a few attempts to lock a primary thats jumping around (whack a mole anyone) thats a bit much imo

Agreed. Overall I'm really quite miffed about the whole shortcut revamp. When this was first put on Sisi it was somewhat interesting and I was hoping that it would shape up into a decent upgrade, but my 3rd, 4th and 5th mouse buttons won't map to anything and the pages-long thread where CCP asked for what new things should be hotkey-mappable seems to have been completely ignored.
I'm really starting to wonder just what the **** was going on during the extra month of dev time here. CCP did some work on the character creator that we don't need yet (and still seems severely sub-par) and seem to have failed at getting anything else to work, apart from the recognized feature of breaking long lists of random, unrelated functions when releasing a patch. I mean ffs, the incursion locator in the journal doesn't even work!
