So I created my portrait, taking plenty of time to get the face and hair just the way I wanted it. Dressed him in a robe and then went to the portrait screen where you adjust the lighting, camera angels and such. Got just the snapshot I wanted and then entered them game.
Was quite shocked to see that his hood was now up and mostly obscuring his face. I could not figure a way to put the cloak up when I dressed him, and the hood was down during picture taking, so why, oh why would it all of a sudden display as up when I enter the game. If its meant to be up then it should show that in the portrait phase. Just as background on my screen it showed him hoodless my first play session, but hooded as viewed from an alt. Once I relogged he was hooded on that client as well.
I will be taking advantage of the redo on this character and going with different clothes as I want his face to be visible.
CCP, please fix the Amarr robes so WYSIWYG in the portrait phase.

This is due to CCP's inability to test their product. A similar issue happened with me, my portrait looks different than what I chose, but only slightly.
At least we get a free portrait redo soon.

Edited by: Khrias on 22/01/2011 19:27:03 Even after the "redo" this is still a problem. I'm the opposite way, however. I WANT my robe obscuring my face as in the portrait displayed on the login screen. When I log in, my portrait is displayed with my hood down and my head completely uncovered. Come on CCP, really?
Edit: For example, you can see my "in game" portrait to the left, and here is my login screen portrait. Pic

Same thing happened to me as above, wanted a hood, got the hood in the login screen, and even the first time I logged into the game it was there. But after the second time I logged in it disappeared, and to top it all off, it did the same thing after the redo. |

Edited by: Blane Xero on 23/01/2011 13:01:44 I had my hood the first time, and it worked fine. This time, the server forgot to render my hood, despite the initial "Temp-Render" the client did having it.
Now the client has Synched with the server and my hood is completely gone on the login screen too. |

Edited by: Florio on 23/01/2011 14:32:28 I just logged on to query a similar thing with my portrait. I carefully made my portrait, reviewed it in the cache before finalising, then upon finalising and entering the game my portrait was different.
In particular, my right eye in the ingame picture droops open, unlike the customisation portrait. I'm going to give it another go.
Is there any way to ensure that the customisation process and cache portrait is the same as the final in-game portrait? Some sort of graphics settings needed?
edit/ bizarrely, clicking on my forum portrait to get the larger version gives me the customisation portrait I thought I was getting (but the ingame portraits for show info, login and character sheet still have the googly eye). |

If CCP intends to charge RL money for changing how our character will look then it rather worries me that they can't get it right the first time. |

Same thing happened to an alt of mine. He has a jacket on with no hood options at all. I posted on the forums to see how it looked and I was shocked to see it had a hood on. however it didnt show on the char select screen or ingame. 2 days later it finally appeared.
When i go into the char creator there is no hood and no hood options for the jacket, just how i made it. I'm not going to redo the pic until im sure its been fixed.
Oh and the original avatar didn't have a hood either, wasnt an option i dont think. |

All my toons came out exactly the way i wanted it to. I just used 1 box to take the snapshots in. So there might be an issue with using the 4 snapshot boxes and the one the server takes. |

While it's not nearly as bad as the disappearing/reappearing hood phenomenon, the make up on the female characters changes in bizarre ways as well. When I originally made this character, despite picking out "no blush," she ended up with bright pink blush, contrary to what she looked like in the character creation. I managed to compensate for it in the second re-customization.
The lipstick varies quite a bit from what it looked like in character creation, too. It's about twice as dark as I expected, and a slightly different shade. On a different character, the lipstick changed colors completely. |

It's so typical CCP picked the Amarr race (and bloodlines) to poke fun at.
CCP1: Okay, who are we gonna screw over this time with the expansion? CCP2: How about Amarr? I think we didn't shaft them for about half a year almost... CCP1: Yeah, cool, they cannot really complain anyway, as they're religious nutcases and we just call it "Divine Intervention". CCP2: Which accordingly makes us... GODS! *geeky guffawing*
Yep, that worked well. Miraculously appearing/disappearing hoods... a sign from the gods to bring the Amarr wavering in their faith back to the true gospel. Way to go, CCP, who would have thought that using CC malfunctions is only your take on deep-immersion roleplay... |

You have to click on the little "1/3" arrows in the section where you pick your robe.

This topic was on the test server for awhile. They fixed pretty much everything reported.

Feel free to ***** about it after you report it before it goes live and they don't fix it but IMO you have fore fitted the right to complain by not helping test things when CCP asked everyone to.

Found it and I'm even more dissapointed now. Only 3 comletely ugly positions for the face I want! Why didn't they make it "dragable" up and down to position where we like it...

So you're saying a paying customer doesn't have any right to complain about defunct/buggy/unfixed after patch features unless he donates his payed for playtime to do QA for CCP? Yeah, guess that makes perfect sense...
...if you work for CCP...

The redo took a day or 2 before mine showed properly. But it was kind of irritating to see my old picture in local but in chat it was the new one.
