Hello there,
I was wondering if there were any plans in the pipe for eve online hardware. Our collegue-mmo players over in the game-that-shall-not-be-named have hardware manufacturer's producing fancy headphones, mice with lights etc.... keyboard with special layouts you name it. Oh and they sell, like freshly baked bunnies. Some games commited partnership with Razer, which virtually guarantees quality and performance.
How awesome would it be to have the navigation buttons (lock target, align to, warp to, etc..) on a special piece of your keyboard, with nice lights etc... ?
I wouldn't have to think about it and buy it at the retail-price, whatever the retail price would be.
People, post your opinions and let's try to wake up ccp!

Not a large enough market to justify the cost of Eve specific hardware.

says who ? I believe most of eve players are very commited and e.g. 60% of eve players would surely buy it, while maybe only 10% of xxxxx-players would buy the xxxx-specified hardware. Given the numbers the 10% could still outnumer our 60%, but... you know, do a poll or something ccp ?

Edited by: Terrolph Trick on 20/01/2011 16:14:23 SteelSeries has some nice stuff. I wonder what kind of sales volume it would take to make an interchangeable keyset for some of the models. Perhaps if CCP's marketdroids took some initiative, there could be a chance.

Only slightly optimistic?
More like 2%, if that.
Also, protip: Don't refer to 'the numbers' if you just made them up.

Nowhere near 60%, and u also need to realize how many total people encompass the the 300000 accounts, because its not 300,000. Im sure the vast majority are older crowd who don't spend money on entirely useless things, especially when they obviously wont be cheap. Then account for probably a very large portion who are strict laptop users, and have no need for a seperate keyboard.
Unless there was some actual advantages to using a eve keyboard mouse (which would cause emorage in itself in the community) I wouldn't buy one myself.
Also. Razer mice BLOW.
So with a low selling opportunity, both producer and endorser would look at possible losses. Not something any company wants.

Yes it does. What I'd like to know is what example did you give, exactly? Unless you're counting that percentage that you pulled out of your arse, of course.
