Not sure if this is the right place but I figure you folks should know about POS's.
My industry alt is almost ready to go into business so I have started scouting out moons. I found a decent location, but the moon has a small tower on it, it has no shield or modules, it looks to be completely deactivated, so what would it take to blow it up so I can plant a medium POS on it?

Depends on what sec it is. Hi sec is a pain in the ass and takes much longer with no capitals. |

Sorry, it's in high sec but I figured being a small and offline it might be easier. |

Well if you can get a fleet of your corp members to take it down. I would recommend using lasers. And cap chain anyone you needs it. It will take some time but lasers will be your best bet since you will not need to reload as often. What kind of small tower is it? The hardest part is killing the hull since the hull 99% resist everything. |

It's a caldari small tower, I don't know enough of my corp to ask for them to fly all the way out where this moon is, I am still relatively new to the corp, I may have to do some price checks on mercs I guess, I didn't realize hulls had 99% resists. |

It's why a lot of merc corps are null sec only, just because caps speed up the process so much. A small offline tower should take a fleet of Battleships at least 4 hours of continuous shooting. |

Wow, that is more than I expected, I may have to rethink my strategy here.

Since you're new to the corp, I'd guess you're not going to be able to convince leadership to wardec the POS holding corp, so you'll need some 2500 Arty Nados, and Solo it'll take a few weeks going 24/7.
If you do go the wardec route, a Pulse Geddon with T2 Heavies'll do it in a few hours.
When the tower's offline, I'm fairly sure that the hull resists are all 0%, so all you need to do is go through ~15m EHP. At 1k DPS, that's about 5hrs. EvE: Everyone vs Everyone

Last time I took down a small Amarr, I started in my Drake.
After about 3 days of half-arsed attempts, called for assistance.
Our fleet had: * Cap stable Apoc (all DPS, no tank) * Torp Raven * 2 Drakes Miscellaneous drones from the ships.
It took a few hours (4 or so I think). The Apoc was the primary damage dealer.
EDIT: Small Amarr towers have 10m shield, 2.5m armor, and 2.0m structure. |

Here is the link for the stats on the Caldari Small tower.
Lilke Tau did he got a group together. Even if you are new in corp don't be afraid to ask for help. That's why you joined right to be in a group of people. But any who stick with fits that will give the most damage. Like he said an Apoc all dps with mainly Em damage.
When pos bashing you usually stick with Oracles and legions if we can so you can get the distance and damage at the same time.
Just make sure your hold is full of crystals. |

Not related to the shooting. But keep in mind that unless you plan on creating a corp, and getting the proper standings to anchor in HS, you will also have to ask your corp to either give you the roles to anchor a new POS, or anchor it for you and grant you the roles to maintain it. Not always an easy task due to the lackluster corporate security available for such things. |

Have you ever done pos bashing before?
Whats the thing with legions and cargohold full of crystals??
Amarr is used for pos bashing mainly for its no-reload-afk-cap-stable ships. Oracle or apoc will be cap stable with multi. You can make abbadons/geddons stable too if you want to skip tank.
Even if the target is in a one man corp, if you want to it afk, dont use anything expensive. especially not t3s.
get a few of your corp mates together and you can do it in abt 4-5 hrs.

I nearly posted - Drop Caps!!! then quickly re-read the thread to check security of the system.
Make sure that you post scouts on the other side of all gates into the system your operating in to avoid nasty surprises.
If you just want the space where this offline POS is you could just mail that Corp and ask them to remove it in a polite way while casually flicking through The Art Of War by Sun Tzu in front of their CEO.... I have tin foil hat trained to 5. |

Ask your corp mates for help (must have in high sec imho) Get that wardec!! (must have in high sec imho) Get on Voice chat of some form. Rotate afk's, with everyone else just making sure to have their audio up. Whoever is 'on watch' shout out if enemies pop on Dscan, or if someone stops shooting (crystal blows, etc). Everyone not 'on watch' reads a book, watches a movie, faps, etc.
Congrats on your new moon pos! ;) |

indeed, as many people have said before, use a laser boat thats cap stable. save so much isk on ammo its not funny. oracle with multi works pretty well, use a voice coms, fleet leader shouldnt go afk, (but if you also have a wing com that should work, you are looking at a few hours with bs ships but as you can get good dps out of cheap ships, its not that bad. I cannot recommend stable dps fit oracles strongly enough. t1 crystals never break. so good for bashing. Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

This is the exact reason why a hacking modal is needed to down unguarded towers. A mod that any one can anchor at any tower that would begin a 48hr timer which if left unchecked would transfer POS owner ship. The Modal would have a moderate amount of tank maybe around 500k to deter any suicide gankers in high sec while allowing small corps to easily remove if they wish to defend their tower. For the mod to be effective in high sec a war dec would be required. Kugutsumen - My signature insures that my post is always read by an ISD or Dev, does yours? |

Why bother trying to blow it up? When I went scouting for a POS site I, like you, found tons of moons with anchored but not online POSs. I simply wrote an Eve-mail to the CEO of the corp asking what his/her intensions were for the POS and asked if they could take it down if they no longer needed the spot. I copied and pasted the mail to all POSs I came across in the few systems around my HQ.
Granted I did this to about 30 CEOs and got 4 replys all offering to take down their POS for me. Most of the time they had simply forgot they ever existed, one corp did ask for a small donation from me which i had no problem in sorting.
Might be worth a go before you go hireing Mercs or war dec'ing?
