Yeah, is that a bug?
Apparently it wasn't, and it has been said to be kept like that until they find a better parser for the field input.

Yes, I was just wondering if there might be a cap on the number of transactions you can pull within that month, as with Incursion 1.1.0 there seemed to have been a hard cap of 1536. Unfortunately I only have about 900 transactions in the last month so I cannot confirm that now.
I walked the journal back from: 1/29/2011 2:59refid=3840796400 to 1/1/2011 16:03refid=3708008810
and pulled 11,821 journal entries. So I can confirm there is no 1536 cap.

Hey, as you all stated here, the new Wallet Journal works fine with the direct API calls. I used to catch the data via the links, given in the My Character Tab on EveOnline.com
There I only get the last 50 entries for my corp. How can I change that or why is it limited? |

It seems that the 256 limit is not active and that you currently can only receive 50 entries per request. I don't know if this is the way it should go or if this is a bug.

The links are the same as direct API calls, and use the same format. See my answer below:

@Catari Taga: Did you understand what I wrote? The dev-id site announces 256 entries per request also. This is not true as you only receive 50(!) entries per request. What exactly should your link help in this case? How to walk the journal is not the point as it is known already.

If you had bothered to actually read what Catari linked, you might have stumbled upon the following:
Quote:

Thx for yer help that far. It's not really nice that I have to do it by hand now as it was much more comfortable before .. but how ever. I got a new problem... WalletJournal only provides data until January, 31th. Even though theres hundreds of data, and even if I add fromID=9999999999 for the WalletJournal of wallet 1000 (corp) I only receive data from January ... any known things about that, or work arrounds?
Thx!

Thx. I'm aware of that fact. Your answer does not fit to the question. Might be me incorrectly pointing at the problem. If I ask for new data... the newest is of January 31 23:58 even if there has been a lot of new data until today. No data from February appear in the resulted csv.

I was having a problem a few days ago where the wallet journal API was returning just a hundred or so results (which for our corp is just a few hours worth of data). The call I'm using is this:
http://api.eve-online.com/corp/WalletJournal.csv.aspx?userId=******&apiKey=*************************************************&characterID=*********&accountKey=1000&rowCount=256
After a couple of days this problem cleared up by itself. Now it's happening again and what's more the few hours worth of data it returns now isn't even sorted, it's just all in gibberish order. Is anyone else getting this too?

Same here. For one wallet it was occasionally going back to begin of January, but for all others it does not happen. As an example for the master wallet, I only get data up to 2 days ago. The second problem is that the rowCount does not seem to be working properly. Even by specifying 256 I usually get less than this amount. We are a corp that has more than 100 members. There is heavy activity going on for for the master wallet.

Watching the problem several weeks, I can now say, that it's not solved, but changed. I requested more than one Gamemaster ... but did only get damn standard answers that even did not fit to my request ... so where can I ask for propper help?
API (for master wallet) now returns the 256 data i haven't called before... no chance to get the newer ones. If I request the API now (02-11 17:41) I receive data back from 02-06 to 02-07 Adding an fromID reference only gets me older data... So what to do?

UCK - Just noticed this one myself (thankfully not a problem *right* now)
That is just horrible... And seriously guys... Should have been mentioned in the patch notes. Some of us actually use the description field to filter various deposits on.
And besides, it's just plain annoying...
We've done without it for what 5 years now - Why this change?
And the one month data limit... Annoying as well. At least bump it to two months and I personally won't have a problem with it (YMMV)

Hey guys at CCP or whereever .. it can't be, that I am the only one having this problem. I can do what I want, use the wallet.sapx with or without "rowCount" and / or "fromID" I never get the actual data .. only thos 256 entries, that the API did not deliver before .. today I am getting data from 7th to 8th Feburay .. no chance of receiving the last 7 days...

You are not alone. The Wallet tools are all broken and when I enter the following for my personal wallet journal which has hundreds of records for today and yesterday:
https://api.eveonline.com/char/WalletJournal.xml.aspx?userID=xxxxxxx&apiKey=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&characterID=xxxxxxxx&rowCount=256
I get 50 rows, the rowCount is ignored. When I add fromID=xxxxxxxxxxx I get an empty response as if there is nothing before it. I am receiving the same results using other tools so it appears to be a lack of data on the server side unless someone can point to an error in the URL above?

I'm not sure if anyone has figured anything out yet, but I am having similar problems.
I am able to walk the journal back 30 days and get over 4,000 entries, but the most recent data I can get today is dated Feb 8th.
Is there something I am missing in order to get up-to-date info form the API?

Quote: Hello again and sorry for the delay [...] I have discussed this matter with some of our technical team who have received other reports of a similar problem in the past couple weeks so there indeed seems to be some sort of issue here. We unfortunately do not have a workaround for this issue right now and it seems to only be affecting select players as we have not been able to reproduce this problem internally yet.
What our QA team and programmers need now in order to be able to get to the bottom of this problem is more information in the form of a bug report about this problem. If you have not filed a bug report yet, then it would be highly appreciated if you could do so and include the information you have told me here about this problem, doing so will ensure that the information will be collected along with information we've gotten from others who have encountered this problem, which should hopefully enable our team to figure out what is causing this to happen to some players. Bug reports can be filed here: https://bugs.eveonline.com/newbugreport.asp
Best regards, Senior GM [...] EVE Online Customer Support
After beeing penetrant on this topic, I finally got the following answer. It's not a solution, but maybe you (too) submit a bug report, explaining "your" experiences.
Greets!

I created a petition for this issue a few days ago with no response as of yet.
I seem to only run into this issue with my corp wallet and not the individual wallets of my characters. Though today I notice that the behvior has changed and now I can only get the most recent 24 hours of data and I can not walk back any farther than that.

My last request was answered by a Senior GM with the information that there had been a hotfix apllied to tranquility on March 2nd that (among other things) dealed with the API problem.
As for me, everything is now fine. Problem solved. Thanks!

Querying the journal call with no fromID should give you the older ROWCOUNT number of entries that the walker has not displayed yet. If there are more than ROWCOUNT entries between your current walker status and your in game status you'll have to query it multiple times to get from wherever you are to the proper point.
I doubt this isn't working as none of the third party devs that I was trouble shooting this with have reported an inability to get new transactions, only the inability to go back a whole month (which results from passing in a fromID that is not an actual entryID from and earlier call and this has been fixed internally and is awaiting deployment). That is not to say something could not be broken so do report it if you're getting nowhere.

I just queried the wallet journal for Molic Blackbird by putting this line in my browser:
http://api.eve-online.com/char/WalletJournal.xml.aspx?userID=xxxxx&apiKey=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&characterID=xxxxxxxx&rowCount=256
The most recent entry was dated '2011-03-10 02:27:00'. The Journal API hasn't worked properly for me since the end of January.
Characters that I query with very few transactions work properly. With Molic Blackbird, I have 100's of transactions per day.

Edited by: CCP Prism X on 17/03/2011 14:12:36 If you are certain that this is not updating the oldest undisplayed entries once the cache timer runs out then please bug report it. If you're just describing a scenario where you have a lot to catch up with, but you are catching up with new ROWCOUNT transactions every time you refresh the "front page" than this is by design as otherwise you'd lose out on transactions.

Edited by: Molic Blackbird on 17/03/2011 14:51:17 After the cache timer runs out, newer entries do appear but I can never get the API entries to be as recent as my in game journal. Since the cache time ran out since my last post, the most recent entry is now dated '2011-03-10 10:18:00' A rough guess would be there are around 500 more recent entries in game that are not showing up in my API exports.
Edit: I have already filed a bug report.

Edited by: CCP Prism X on 17/03/2011 15:16:34 Well that is by design then. You just have to refresh until you catch up to your current history.
Essentially, this is the sitation you are in.
1 := Maximum past record you can reach. 2 := Your current newest record in the API return 3 := Your current newest record in game
|1----------2+++++++++++++++3|
The - symbols are transactions you already have. The + symbol are transactions you do not have. If there are more '+' records than your maximum rowCount you will not get up to the newest transaction. Let's say for the sake of the example that the maximum rowCount is 10 + symbols, your next full refresh will leave you in this state:
|1----------2----------+++++3| Where 2 still signifies your previos current position (just so this is as clear as ASCII pictures can be). This obviously does not put you at position 3 but you are closer to it. If no transactions occur in game between this picture and when the cache timer expires, you'll catch up to 3. If you manage more transactions in there to add 6 plus symbols there, you will not.
Any clearer?
P.S. The alternative leaves the gap on a different place with no indication to the end-user that there are records there being hidden from them.
