Well as everyone knows version 0.6.1 is been out for a long time and with the original author not supporting it any there is been many people trying to figure out what to do with their current Mining Buddy installs. Well I would like to announce that Today January 21st, 2011 version 0.8.2 is been released! (where I live its only 11:35pm at the time of writing this.)
Please go to http://miningbuddy.whistle-britches.com/ as this is the new site for mining buddy as .net is no more.
This update is provided free to use. If you have issues you can post them here or click on forums and post a problem but make sure that you also submit a bug ticket so I can fix the issue for everyone. If all goes well and have enough bug reports I will be trying to release a update once a month sometimes more if we get more bug reports.
Version 8.2 does have a upgrade tool when you install the script it will prompt you to let it to upgrade the SQL tables it is always noted that you should back up all data before starting a upgrade.
If there is anything else I missed please let me know.

Yeah I will post it later I am busy today but yeah I can do that easy for everyone.
Simple one is upgrade just upload that as is (the files in side of it) to the base directory of mining Buddy and it would upgrade your version.
Better Guide will come here later today.

Hi, Great to see that this has been picked up, I've been trying to find a copy for a while now.
Got an installation issue, I think I've followed the instructions correctly but when I go to the site for the fist time I get nothing, it appears to run briefly but then just a completely blank screen..... I know it's not a very helpful description or list if errors, but not sure what else I can provide! Sorry :(

Did you also rewrite parts of the code to make it more modern or is it still the same codebase as the original miningbuddy?

Right now 8.2 has a slight rewrite but 8.3 is the start of the conversion of the code to modern. It should be completed by version 8.7 - 9.0
But this is just for mining buddy I also have a complete CMS thats being worked on also thats got its own mining Manager, Killboard, Pos Manager, API Tool, and more planned for the future. And that should be working kind of by March of this year (the mining part will be working at least)

Ok I know its been some time BUT me and my crack team of programmers (you know the code monkey's) have almost finished putting the last little finishing touches on it. Last thing we need to do is fix the final payout and fix a visual bug and you know what? it is all done and completed!
We are hoping to have that completed this week.

Well compare to it the version is they have some things that is for just them but for the most part it is the same. Also like the post above says the roadmap has release dates on them and things we are going to try to complete for that release.

Yes it is you must have the rights to manage the Ore Quotes. In there is a list of all the ore in the game plus some other items. Next to the box to put the isk amount in you have a checkbox that says enable? make sure you uncheck them if you don't want them and check if you do.

This is due to the way the Original programmer programmed things being in a static database. This is been a big reason why me and the other dev of mining buddy are taking time now that we are at 8.4 going to 8.5 to reprogram and make mining buddy all new to take out the static programming and focus more on giving it more flexibility. As for your issue there is no real fix for it as it would take much editing of the code. If this is something your looking for please submit a bug case and we can see about getting it implemented for the next release.

\o hello there. Have a spot-o-trouble here getting mining buddy to operate for me. I've got the db install alright, the initial page loads (where you can log in / request account for the first time). at the top I receive these PHP errors:
query("SELECT id FROM runs"); if ($allRuns->numRows() >0) { while ($ID = $allRuns->fetchRow()) { $ID = $ID[id]; $ISK = $ISK + getTotalWorth($ID); } } else { $ISK = "0"; } return($ISK); } ?> Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at C:\xampp\htdocs\ni\mining_buddy\functions\math\calcualteTotalIskMined.php:50) in C:\xampp\htdocs\ni\mining_buddy\functions\system\init.php on line 41
Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at C:\xampp\htdocs\ni\mining_buddy\functions\math\calcualteTotalIskMined.php:50) in C:\xampp\htdocs\ni\mining_buddy\functions\system\init.php on line 41
I can get to the request account page, but the same errors appear there as well.
Poked around the config files a bit and everything looks good. Could I bother you for some assistance?

Edited by: Dvorak Telemnar on 03/05/2011 19:31:35 Busy testing for our alliance and so far looks like a brilliant app - thank you!
Had an issue in 0.8.3 where portrait images were not showing from a brand install today.
I made this alteration to fix it : classes/profile_class.php Rows 91 & 92
- $this->smallPicUrl = "<img src=\"http://img.eve.is/serv.asp?s=64&c=" . $api->getCharacterID() . "\">"; - $this->largePicUrl = "<img src=\"http://img.eve.is/serv.asp?s=256&c=" . $api->getCharacterID() . "\">"; + $this->smallPicUrl = "<img src=\"https://image.eveonline.com/Character/" . $api->getCharacterID() . "_64.jpg\" HEIGHT=\"64\" WIDTH=\"64\">"; + $this->largePicUrl = "<img src=\"https://image.eveonline.com/Character/" . $api->getCharacterID() . "_128.jpg\" HEIGHT=\"128\" WIDTH=\"128\">";
I have only just started testing mining buddy for our alliance but here are some minor comments/suggestions/feature requests I would love to see in MiningBuddy : - Allow the submission of API credentials on the registration page and/or prompt for them if they are invalid or not loaded at login. - Confirm the requested username at registration matches an existing EvE character (http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Eve_CharacterName_XML or http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Eve_CharacterID_XML which do not require a working API) - Add the ability to restrict access to specific corp(s) and/or alliance(s) (http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Eve_CharacterInfo_XML without API will provide corp & alliance ID's) Using corp/alliance ID's may be better as it is more difficult to mess-up and don't need to deal with special characters, case and spaces. - Ability to define roles for ranks - Plug-in for linking into PhPBB3 forum authentication. Maybe custom PhPBB3 profile fields for MB integration. - Automatically/ability too update ore prices from eve-central (or something similar) - Ability to calculate most profitable ore based on mineral composition per m3 and mineral prices.

Thank you for the kind words the image problem should have been fixed with 8.3 but if the server we where using failed then we need to fix it again. All the ideas you have here are good and I see a few we are trying to get implemented the only thing I ask is you go to the bug page and Submit your requests/features. That pages is not just for bugs but for overall implementation, fix, enhancements, and features of the tool.

There is no formal Install guide as of this time we are working on getting something created that is better then the current doc file in the doc folder. It is quite out of date but still for the install works. We are looking to have a install script working for the next version of Mining Buddy. We had kind of one for 8.4 but we decided not to release it because it did not actually work all the time the times it worked was about 85% of the time but this is mostly due to permissions.

This is due to not having Pear installed. On the Forums for Mining buddy there is a Patch for this along with the bug site. you can also go to pears website and get a file called go-pear.php and use that to install it.
If you need more help feel free to contact me ingame.

just a quick question regarding the version numbers. The downloaded file is named -v0.8.3 and so is the contained folder. On your changelog it says that 0.8.4 was released on the same day stated in the download balloon on your homepage. Is it just a mixup or how do I get ahold of the 0.8.4 version? ^_^

Please contact me directly for information on this.
Also 8.4 has a weighted system but as the site states the system did have a side effect that was not hmm friendly it required the removal of the ability to kick someone from the mining op or having them leave the op. This is fixed in 8.5 along with many other issues as we changed the framework.

Hi guys,
I've installed the latest version but can't log in as the initial superadmin account. I get no errors, the database is installed fine, the page simply clears the fields and returns to the log in screen.
After failing login, nothing is inserted into the failed logins table.
The Character Name for admin isn't a valid Eve character.
Thanks for any help you can give and bravo for adopting this project!

Ok, so I am having a couple issues with MiningBuddy 8.3.
1. So I got everything upload and installed with zero errors. Upon launching MiningBuddy 8.3 I discovered that register_globals was set to 'On'. I got an error message saying it needed to be off, so I made sure my php.ini settings were all off.
I went back to the installation page and it still popped up the error message that register_globals was active, so I thought maybe I missed something and contacted my web host support. Support came back confirming that all register_global settings have been set to Off and that there is nothing active for this variable.
Going back to the installation I still received the error message that it was still on, so being very fed up I commented out that call to check if it was active. Once I did that, everything was a charm. This was bug 1 that I had a problem with and would like to be able to run MB8.3 without having to change the code.
2. Once everything was finalized, I created the main admin account 'superadmin' and immediately copy/pasted the password shown to a text file on my desktop. Once I tried to log in, I get redirected to the main login screen with no error messages. I saw the posts about a browser bug, but I get the same results when using either IE8, Firefox 3, chrome, and safari.
I would really like to get this working but I need a little assistance in the above matters.
Thanks for the help!

ok As for commenting out the line about the Register Globals off that could have caused a few issues let me look into that. Also as for the kicking you out I have not had that issue except for on Firefox 5. Please contact me with times I can work with both you that you are free.

Hello,
I was just wondering on the progession of 8.5? On your forums you seem to indicate that it has been delayed indefinetly however here it sounds like its being worked on still. If it is, is the aim still the end of july?
Thanks
PS: Fiefoxs new roll out plan is lots of constant updates, so yer fair enough waiting till 5 is out of beta but dont be put off if v6 in beta comes out soon.

Lol no that was a joke we are still looking at trying to fix the weighted system for 8.5 right now once that is fixed we wil be releasing 8.5.
Well just so you know We didnt write this code to start with and we are working on a new product that will be better than mining buddy in the sense it will be cleaner and more up to date with coding standards and will work on any browser that will read CSS.

Lol ok then glad to hear it :) I personally don't care for the weighted ship system as I think everyone should be paid fairly, but your not making it for just me and I can see how others would love it :) hehe.
Yer I mean any update is an update and your work on MB is much appreciated. I am all for a new program, but how long till its ready and would it be possible to import exisiting MB installs (the database) into this new program? I ask because I don't want the entire alliance to sign up, get used to and use mining buddy if a better thing is going to be out in a month or 2 :) Thanks

What why would we make a database import program!!! Thats just crazy talk there!
but in all seriousness yes there will be a database import tool to allow all your current MB data to be mapped over to the new system we are working on getting that it might not be in the first test versions but it should be in the first release.

Just a quick "nit-picky" thing. MiningBuddy was originally one word not two. I'm one of the earlier developers of it and it kind of irks me to see that you can't name it correctly. t3hsp00k будет богом |

That is fine please be nit-picky but be aware I will not be calling it MiningBuddy. If you wish you can call it that but to be honest it should be 2 words.
Also when did you dev on it from my understand and talking to the Original dev he was the only one who worked on the Official releases because he didn't trust others.

Yeah he had a hard time working with other people for a while but I worked with him until he quit supporting it. He didn't have time as he wasn't playing the game and he moved on to other thins. I was the main host for the application hosting a few hundred corps MiningBuddy sites at MiningBuddyhost.net (no longer active). t3hsp00k будет богом |

Small bug with 8.5: you can't set a payout value for Capital Industrial Ships. It always reverts to zero when you try and update.

OK, I think I've figured it out. The database creation SQL is missing the ship values column for CapitalIndustrialShipValue, hence why it defaults to zero and never gets updated. If I create that column in the database manually, it seems to work ok, but no idea if that is the correct solution.
