Of all the things eve has to offer, the sole driving force for me (and a lot of others I assume) is pvp. However, sometimes I feel like camping a gate or wtf ganking a solo victim, while exhilarating, is not always as satisfying as I know it can be. I attribute this to be associated with there being no overall purpose to your pvp endeavors. So, in a effort to make my pvp a little more fulfilling I am beginning a crusade against those that use macro's and bots.
There is no difficulty whatsoever to find bots and macros. They are all over the freaking place. When I started messing around with ninja salvaging I was shocked to see how many people had to have been running a macro of some kind. Thus, I have decided to steer the majority of my pvp efforts into war dec'ing and ganking macroers.
So, why am I posting in C&P? I need your help in locating this guys even faster. Are you a miner fed up with watching your ice get evaporated by the never tiring PC run isk machine? Are you a ninja savager and constantly notice non-griefable L4 battleships?! Does someone you know use a macro and you want to anonymously make them suffer for it? Let me know! High sec, low sec, null sec, makes no difference.
Ideally I would like to start a coalition against these individuals (independent corps = more cheap war decs & a number of people interested in suicide ganking macro hulks).
I am curious how much interest there is in this, so please post if this catches your attention. If CCP won't (or can't) do anything about this nuisance, then its time for players to take a stand!
If you have any info about known characters that bot, please let me know via mail or forum posting. -------------------------------------------------

Try going out to the Drone Regions. You'll find loads of empty systems and the occasional group of three similarly named ratters in three similarly named Ravens, heading to either a POS or a safespot where they cloak up, because they detected you the instant the server sent out the message you were in-system.
Yeah, have fun with that. Hell, we owned that space on and off for awhile, and we couldn't ever catch 'em. -- Need a break from EVE? |

Probably because you never bothered to attack the POS.

I would say the bulk of the macro ships are in high-sec. I wouldn't waste my time going after 0.0 macros since it's easier for them to see who the threat is (ie: a bunch of blues and one red in 0.0 vs. a bunch of neuts in high-sec).
I would first look into low-traffic systems (usually dead-end systems) in high-sec since those are easier places to macro mine. Also, look for systems that have large number of belts. Oh, and don't forget to fit a passive targeting module so that you can lock onto them and scan their ships without alerting them. Some macro Hulks tend to sacrifice lots of defenses in favor of larger cargoholds. Of course, newbie Hulk pilots tend to do that too, so pick your targets carefully.
To me, the biggest red flag is the age of the character in relation to the ship used as well as how the ship is being used (and fitted if you use the ship scanners). That, and how long they stay logged in and what intervals they long in with.

Updated the post a smidge. I don't have problems finding or identifying bots (most of the replies are suggestions for hunting). I was just curious if people know various bot characters. The less searching I have to do the better for all -------------------------------------------------

I wonder if anyone has tried placing "observers" in those systems that are the most heavily ratted. Take a low-SP alt and put it in those systems cloaked. If the bots safe up with the presence of someone else in the system, you in theory can prevent them from ratting at least denying them their isk even if you cant gank them.
Put enough of these observers in the busiest of systems it would be amusing to see what happens.

Hmm, interesting idea. I like to try that every now and then. XD
