My EVE keeps freezing on me, 2 clients, 1 client it doesnt really matter, happens after 45 mins - 1+ hour.
- Have tried disabling sound in EVE - Updated to latest Catalyst driver 10.12 (tried with 10.11 before that) - Have updated my sound driver SoundMAX - Have monitored CPU temp (<58 degress) GFX card (<60 degrees) - Stress testing PC takes CPU to 68 degress and GFX to 65, no freeze!
Really unhappy!
I am running: - Windows Vista 64 bit - 8 Gb RAM - AMD Phenom 9950 BE 2600 MHz - AT Radeon HD 4650

See if it's same symptoms as described in this post: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1455197
Is your entire PC hang, including the mouse pointer or is it just the game client and you are able to Alt+Ctrl+Del and kill the eve process in task manager?

Hi Thanks for giving some input.
Unfortunately its the entire PC that hangs, I cannot tab out to Windows, ctrl+alt+del doesn't work either...
Ideas are welcome!!

OK then in your case I'd run a hard drive surface test and memory test. Stress tests don't test those, but faulty sector or bad memory module can cause total halt if operating system gets bad data read from them. Since you got 8GB of RAM I'd guess u got 4x2GB modules, if they are all same brand and specification - but if you got mixed types see that they all same operating voltage and clock speed. Quickest test would be leaving just 1 RAM module and try play EVE see if it's still causes the whole PC to hang.
good luck

Edited by: Commandante Caldari on 25/01/2011 12:12:14 I have a similar issue with my Alienware M17x Dual SLI GTX 280M.
My cards were running at 107ŚC mostly and I had lots of issues like random freezes and BSOD's depending on the Nvidia driver. Finally DELL replaced the cards after 2 weeks reporting to them. The cards had performance problems as well and other crap. I think they were damaged, too due to overheat by a thick layer of dust inside the laptop.
Actually with the latest driver and the new cards running at 58ŚC maximum. Additionally I am using a Zalman cooling board. No performance issues anymore. But time by tim a freeze especially when I have one or two EVE clients running in window mode over hours. I just can use EVE on one GPU only because in SLI mode I experience heavy DPC Latency. But that's another story. Performance with one GPU is awesome and a huge difference compared to my old cards.
I am sure that the freeze could be driver related. When I tried to solve my problems I found users with the similar problems. One of them told me that the freeze is a compatibility issue between the Nvidia driver and Flash 10.x. I can't say much about this. Just an idea.

Well, bought a new CPU cooler.. happy that idle temp is now 39-39... heavy load is maximum 49! I was happy..
Then started up EVE, running it even in window mode low settings on gfx... Have dual monitor setup...
And it freezes! Damn... so I guess it must be GFX card??

Thats my other char above... anyway, its getting quite annoying. Have tried to find ideal temps for my Ati card but it should not be a problem with 55 degrees on that one. So I am puzzled. Can sometimes play less than an hour :(
Have tried to run Prim95 (100% on CPU) and FurMark at the same time, the computer does not freeze up, CPU goes to max 52 degrees and GFX max 65 degrees.
Any other ideas out there?
Could it be the EVE game?

I'm having the same problem. I can play for 30 min or 5 hours with no problems but occasionally, client freezes, then window freezes about 2 seconds later, and I have to do a hard reboot to recover. Don't really have the problem with other games.
OS: Win7 64 w/8gb RAM CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE Deneb 3.4GHz MB: MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD GPU: MSI R5850 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 5850 w/Catylyst 10.12 (problem existed using previous ver.)
