Hi there
Just want your opinion or tried and tested knowledge on how a medium control tower (non faction) will fair in a c2 wormhole, also if you have any fitting ideas I would very much like to hear 'em the tower itself wont be used for industry at first, just for doing sleeper sites and whatnot.
Ty in advance

Get a large, do some PI to make up for slow times and thank me later. Mediums can be difficult to blow up, but often aren't. In a C1 you could get away with a medium with enough ECM, guns and hardeners, but in a C2 you can get a fleet of BS's to make your tower burn.
TL,DR: Get a large tower with plenty of guns, ecm and hardeners and save the tears.

Sounds good, I'm not fussed on the price of the tower and modules but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going overboard with a large tower

If it's a C2, the WH max. mass allowance does not permit a lot of firepower to come through.
If there is no sudden ninja-POS popping up, you have not offended anyone to the point where the cost/logistics play no role whatsoever in the goal of hurting you or your corp and/or there is no pending contract upon your assets/corpse, a medium POS is feasible.
Combine gun ranges (you don't need large guns in a C2), use ECM and you absolutely NEED POS gunners. Be pro-active, probe out new K162s regularly, bubble them. If you find a new non-K162, do NOT warp to it.
If you have hostile presence in "your" hole (in W-Space every unknown on DS is a priori hostile) bring up bubbles around your POS to glue them at your guns optimal. Anchor a bubble between your POS and every known WH/Sun/Planets. You stand a pretty good chance on defending your Medium POS. Good luck.

Good: POS Gunners(the smart ones) with guns online with ammo Lots of guns that get the tower bonus Energy neuts Warp disruptors Shield hardeners ECM 2 months worth of fuel and full stront Good mix of small and medium guns
Bad: Dumb POS gunners or few guns or incapped modules or offline modules or no ammo or any combination thereof Few guns or most offlined as some scouts actually check Offlined shield hardeners for your worst shield resists Onlined shield hardeners for your best shield resists Panicking Low fuel supplies Relying only on ECM Large guns in anything below a C5 Short range guns only(Someone can always teach you how far they can shoot cruise missiles from a Raven)
I'd honestly recommend a POS bash just so you can see how easy it is for a relatively small determined group to take out a POS that is poorly defended. Oh and the person who said that they can't bring that much firepower into a C2 needs to rethink. Most of the time we will close the old WH and open a new one to get additional ships in if necessary. Most of my POS bash tears have been harvested in C2's.

So to understand this correctly - people actively troll through WH space for the sole purpose of destroying people's POS? I don't understand this - what profit/gains does this get?
The amount of effort just to do so seems hardly justified.

They are more likely to hit an easy target rather than one that's all puffed up and bristling with teeth. If a group is living in a WH they're bound to have lots of juicy ships, loot, and modules hanging around. The thought of what might be inside of a poorly defended pos is like bleeding in a pool full of sharks.

Thanks guys
Just another question, after I've put in a maint. array and a hangar do I want guns, ecm, hardeners, etc. to be maxing out power capabilities on a large tower?

There is a good chance that they will hit it while you are not on, but thanks to the Rf timer you will be on if they come back when it comes out.
So, imo, you go max hardners/ecm with minimum guns online. When they rf it the hardners/ecm goes offline so you then online all the extra guns and get your gunners scheduled to be online for when it comes out.

stront son, full renenforced hanger of stront...
also look up some storys of pos defence in google, and check you defence layout, layout can be important or you get smart bombed, or disco'd
and yes people do grief, raid towers, any tower that stands a maybe chance of carry something juicy, they will give it a try.
fyi theres plenty of 8-15 man gangs roaming, so watch out. lrn2Dscan..

This is why, if you decide to set up in a WH, you go as cheap as possible. Use cheap Drakes if you're setting up in a C2. Haul out loot daily.
If someone's gonna gank a POS in a C2, they really want a reason. Don't give them one.

In my opinion a large tower in C2 is quite unapproachable. Esp in a C1 as the largest ship that can fit through an entrance is BC. So kinda hard to get a large POS down with BC sized ships. So, large tower, doesn't matter what sorts but make sure not to use Caldari Guns (missile bays) on it. They have nice range and whatever but their Damage is laughable. I usually go with Caldari Tower (if CPU is much needed), jamming modules and guns enough to put out around 3k DPS. Mostly matari ACs, Arties. If powergrid is more of an issue, I'd go with a matari tower as they give DPS bonus to the guns. Use EVEHQ to fit up your tower. An example fit: 4 of each racial jammers, energy neut, scram, web, lottttta guns. Even if there is a BS gang of 10 people, the 16 jammers will seriously cause a headache. Decrease the DPS, disrupt their spidertank. etc..

Use a large tower in every W space system, the better defended a pos is, the less likely you are to be attacked.

Only if the guns are at the expense of a balanced defense. You need Statsis, ECM, Warp and Guns to be effective.
But I echo the sentiment that its Large or expect the worst.
