Edited by: mkmin on 26/01/2011 03:51:43 In the course of the first day in only 2 incursion constellations did the players have any progress at all. One of those was in Sinq Laison region and the other in Amarr space. Of those two only Sinq Laison had any hope of driving back the incursion, but even with all the focus and thousands of ship losses players only pushed it back 35% at the most. By the end of the day, all progress has been lost.
(Note: I still think it's funny how the 3rd highsec incursion constellation covered a rookie area. Haven't yet headed over and taken a look.)
Summary: At the players' most aggressive but probably least coordinated there was zero sustained progress. As player energy drops, will they gain the coordination to actually trigger an HQ spawn (ed: mothership or whatever the final sites is called)? I speculate "no."

Fantastic, something that wasn't beaten in one day. I'de say CCP did a good job.
If it somehow goes longer than a week without being repelled I'de be very surprised.

Yeah, but the problem I see is anyone with less than 30M sp doesn't stand a chance of effectively participating. ----------------------------- Welcome to EVE. Ship happens. |

I was participating successfully with less than 25m sp, but then I am an alt with experience flying in rr fleets with trusted friends.

Honestly it looks like incursions could use some really low key action sites for smaller ships (frigs/dessies/cruisers). Something that would require some teamwork but not huge pile of skillpoints and isk.

I was in a corporation where people were taking on sleepers with barely 10m SP. There is always something they can do to help.

I would love to see an incursion happen in Jita (especially near 4-4). That would be hilarious!

my only beef is that one of the systems on a haul run now has fleetlag in it with less than 12 people in the system, a quick scan showed the place literaly overrun with Concord ships in the various encounters.
Seriously when Concord outnumbers the reds by more than 100 to one, you probably should set both sides to despawn.

Yeah! Yeah! WeeEEE!!! Brilliant idea! To bad CCP said they aren't going to happen in trade hubs or anywhere where they could be interesting.

It would be great if it took 6 months to a year for one to get done, necessitating hundreds of players to get out eve-craft calculators, formulate optimum fleet make ups, form a command structure of players, with differen squads of twenty practicing nightly sparring on level ivs with t1 cruisers to practice, jamming and warping from agro, remote rep etc ...
That sort of PVE might just make the PVE a real game even remotely close to other pve games that take group coodination etc

Compare that to World of Warcraft pve content.
New high level WoW pve content is usually completely trashed and beaten within hours of the servers coming up.
I consider this a success on CCP's part.

From what people told me ecm pilots are kinda useful in there. You certainly dont need more than 5-6M SP to fly a blackbird.
Just quickly running in one of the sites with a small pvp roaming gang was kinda interesting, although we got chased off the field by npc

Yeah, useful for attracting aggro from the rest of the nest. Actually fly a blackbird in there and see how long it lasts.

Seriously, late at night picked up a small 15 man gang in the sinq liason region to take on incursions in the area.
after 3 incursions we as a fleet only had 2 losses.
Here is a scoop of what you need.
RR battleships. Lots of drones to take on frigs. some hacs and bc's to take out the smaller stuff.
The fleet i was in was for the tier 3 incursions,
This sample 20 man fleet included 5 logistics 5 hacs 10 bs's 3 of which were dominixes.
All ships but the hacs had RR capabilities.
So dont complain they are hard, you just need practice.

Yea, there have been horror stories going about guardians being insta-popped on arrival.
In the one site I could actually see myself (vanguard / override array) our scimitars didnt even get shot once.

Part of that is luck. Also, ai aggress on rr almost as badly as ecm. If you have lots of ships that keep a one slot rr spidertank running, with logi going in last, it significantly decrease chances of logi aggro.

I killed several cruisers with a simple cerberus, fitted with an MWD,sensor booster and T2 heavy missiles, and had the lock range(130 kms),speed(1.5 Km/s) and firing range(140+ kms),to keep at safe distances from all hostile ships while killing them easily, and they never managed to land a hit on the tank at all,so no need for RR's or anything,so where's the difficulty here?....I was actually bored going from belt to belt.
And the main site was empty btw...

Being at range seemed to do the trick. The npc actually seemed to focus fire on our battlecruisers as those where the ones that had the least range control on them, and ignoring the scimitars that were out at 50-60km completely.
Poor target choice on our part (not killing their repairers first), and obliviously shooting a trigger early did make the site unbeatable quickly though.

True, but they're fast, with lots of scram/web, and some of the spawns seem random. Distance isn't very dependable.
