Looks ok to me. Yesyu is an achura though, not a Vherokior. So I have no experience with sculpting the base model Vherokior male. I do have a Vherokior female alt. And yes the base model wants to keep a permanent squint on the character for some reason.
However, again, your avatar looks fine. And, anyway, no matter what race, ethnicity, or gender you are irl, your avatar is not you, and the less people think about them that way the less they will complain about the character creation process and outcome. It's meant to be fun, not an art contest in self-portraiture. |

Ah! I knew I was doing something wrong!
Thank you, everyone. I have a lot to think about over the next few days. It's a pity I can't save the work in progress and come back to it later.

The only thing hopeless is a game corporation that forces you to look like you don't want and offers bloodline change for PLEX a month or two later.
After 3 pages of Vherokior pics I haven't seen an avatar that looks like how my old avatar looked or how I would want to look. I'm happy for all you happy, jolly and satisfied people, though!

Your like the third or fourth person i've seen who's gone Vher and seems to be really ticked about it. I'd like to point out that I, while dissapointed with the fact that i couldn't recreate my original character, had no problem enjoying the new character creator. I literally had NO idea that she was Asian in the first place, and did indeed struggle finding a way to get the character to look how i wanted it. But covering up your characters in aviators and giving the character editor little to no attention because of it strikes me as "quitting." It's an easy way out, and now nobody will really pay your character much attention. ----------------------------------------------- Feel Free to Browse my Photobucket |

How do you know I haven't spent hours and hours on the editor, even on Sisi from october on?
For you it may work and you may be happy with your new look, well I'm not. And if I look around and see how other bloodlines look much more how I like it and some even far more how I used to look, it really p*sses me off. There was really no need for any radical change and CCP could at least given us a free bloodline change.

That game corporation can do whatever the **** it wants. The truth is that they weren't satisfied with the weeaboo-ish look of the female vherokior, so they opted for something more realistic and distinctive. You don't like? What should they do? Ask you how their game should look?
It's no different then people whining about their favorite ship or weapon system being nerfed. It's an mmo, you should expect it to change over time and those changes won't always be to your taste.
The only thing you can do is deal with it.

Definitely this. Also, too many guys enter the char creator with the idea of applying their hidden and not so hidden sexual desires and preferences to that poor pixelated model, which usually results in a lot of hideously ugly toons with HUGE "assets".
I still sorely miss the eyes of the old model though, they were awesome. |

I'm gonna agree with the concensus that Vhero seems like a tough race to work with. There's some standouts in this thread though (Jada rocks by a long shot).
I wasn't happy with my initial try at Iris and tried recreating her using an open slot on one of my accounts, and I've determined that she looks as good as I'm going to get. Attempts at redesigning came up terribly short. I've also determined that we're genetically predisposed to looking like we've just woken up, even my wife said "Your chick looks like a sleepy Asian.." But the more I look at her, the more I like her look, so I think I'm happy.

First of all, the original post was asking for tips and ideas from Vherokior female characters. The rest of you that aren't, STFU and GTFO.
I see some good looking Asian portraits in this thread but I think Mara wanted to have the new character look more like her original old character.
Making the new character look like the old character is tough and you'll spend a lot of hours working on it but it can be done.
Crimson's Girl is an excellent example.

I'm flattered. To me, Jada seems to invoke some of the personality I had intended in Iris' old portrait, a sort of confident and friendly shrewdness. She also manages to pull off not looking like she's excessively tired, like she's fighting to keep her eyes open. Instead, I see personality in her eyes, sort of inviting and friendly, yet appraising, like she's sizing you up. It's just a well-done portrait to me. Which isn't to say yours isn't well-done either, you're definitely a stand-out as well.

I'll caveat this by saying I'm probably the last person that should be giving tips but... Mara, looking at the picture of the Vietnamese woman, in my unprofessional opinion, you won't be able to replicate it, not with a Vhero. We don't have enough control over eye shape allow for you to recreate the woman's larger eyes. Vhero eyes are just too narrow. The one you did with the pigtails wasn't too bad.

Try something like this. Not too ugly and took all of 5 minutes to create.
Sorry just created a trial to see what I could do. Go here and type in 'Five Minutes' (without the quotation marks) to see the character.

The old portrait base model is gone. She will be missed. She was sort of a universal ethnic . Having some mixed caucasian and asian features. However, you basically have to go with the new narrower parameters of the new base model, which has much stronger Asian features. These features ARE NOT UGLY. I'm not an ugly character.
The lack of modifiability on the openness of the eyes appears to be what many are complaining about, not so much an asiatic shape. However, notwithstanding the sensitivity to light they appear to have been burdened with, they can be quite expressive in different ways. Look on this page. The eyes can be pensive as with Iris Saavedra, seductively challenging as with Merrya, or preoccupied but not entirely dismissive as with Violet Varannar.
So, find a narrative. Here you see me getting ready to give someone who may have called me ugly a piece of my mind in this portrait, and some ugly or more likely snarky words may be getting ready to pass my lips in response, after I get passed the feeling of incredulity. |

Thanks for the mention, you say some pretty insightful stuff. Seems as though the lighting in your own avatar could use some work, i think it's taking away from your avatar, namely the corners of her eyes are very distracting O.o ----------------------------------------------- Feel Free to Browse my Photobucket |

The Character Creator does seem to restrict the Vherokior eyes more than other racial types. But Vherokiors can be very pretty. Just take your time and don't stop until you like what you see. |

Just puff up your cheeks a bit, and take the picture at the right angle&lighting, then you don't look like you've got downs syndrome. Once Incarna has been fully deployed, though, we'll have to go through all the hassle again. It used to be possible to have mixed asian/caucasian features. I miss my round eyes (see my sig). Being basically mutts made being Vherokior special, and the skill-set/attribute-spread in the heydays made it a RP-choice. (versus just playing Caldari) (*+.,_,.#¦¦`*+.,_,.#¦¦`*+.,_,.#¦)

The trick to the males is turning the face sideways and pulling in the mouth, stops the 'monkey like' look. Am quite happy with my avatar, portrait shot is not perfect but it will do...

Edited by: Teinyhr on 29/01/2011 21:37:23 There's pretty much the only thing that bothers me about Vherokior femmes, it's the eyes. We seem to look constantly drowsy because our eyes are so small (so small!). Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the new character creation regarding the bloodline, we're not the prettiest women of the cluster anymore but at least Sebiestors represent.

Well, I would say the key point it to have a concept (a 'narrative' as somebody said). It may help to remember what the RPG iun MMORPG means... Then it's 'just' a matter of finding a way of using the vherokior features instead of suffering them... (easy to say)(and I am not claiming I succeeded in full...)
