I have created a Noctis fit for salvaging L4 missions whilst aggro has been drawn by one of my corp mates doing the mission. I've only once ran out of cargo space with this fit and can just return to station or jet-can some stuff to mission runner - so not a problem for me.
Inertia Stabs - Take the align time down to about 10 seconds. Damage Control - Almost doubles EHP. Handy if another spawn appears before I warp. Mids, Highs, Rigs - Should be obvious.
Any comments etc?

A couple of things.
Ditch the istabs ù the MWD means you will always align in 10s anyway (except when exiting stations). What you fit there instead is up to you ù expanders being the obvious choice, but they'll kill the effectiveness of that suitcase, so that's a matter of taste and balance. A signal amplifier might be one other idea.
Too many salvagers/too few tractors. Those four salvagers will eat wrecks faster than four tractors can provide them. Drop one salvager and add a fifth tractor beam.
You shouldn't need the cap recharger for anything ù with all the salvaging gear running, it should already be stable, and if not, get your skills up (you should never have to use the MWD for any long stretch of time). Exchange it for a sensor booster and scan res script to make up for the abysmal inherent scan res of the ship, although this is less necessary if you fit the aforementioned signal amp. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Thanks. Good suggestions.
I'm a lazy git and like beer so I tend to ALT+F1-4 (tractors), have a swig of beer, then F1-4 (salvage) and then repeat. It's still super quick but I will try a 5:3 split tractors:salvage.
I was lost when fitting the mids. The MWD is for those out of reach wrecks but that rarely happens beyond ORE IV. The cap recharger... just seemed wise with the MWD. Sebo is a great idea, thanks :)

Edited by: Wet Ferret on 01/02/2011 12:34:14 5 tractors is optimal I've found. Assuming you have multitasking 3, you have the full 10 target locks and can work on 5 at a time, very convenient.
I suppose if you're lazy, your setup is fine though. The 5/3 split is more useful for solo work, when cleaning up large wreck fields.
Confirming that sensor booster with scan res script is awesome, er- pretty good, anyway.
Oh yeah, about my sig... you have now read it.

I run 6 tractors ad 2 salvagers which seems about right. ymmv. these things eat wrecks....

Edited by: GyokZoli on 01/02/2011 16:22:26 Wow, you guys really think the Salvage Tackle rigs are necessary with T2 Salvagers? In my experience I need to wait more for tractoring the wrecks than finishing the salvaging process even without the rigs.

It's a good idea. Looks like I have to replace at least one salvager with a tractor beam (I have 4 salvagers now).

You can also fit a couple of LSE IIs just in case you do manage to draw some attention to yourself.

Most L4 missions won't let you run MWDs. Best use an afterburner and istabs.
I agree with the more tractors and fewer salvagers comment. :) |

You can run MWDs in missions now, check the patch notes.
That being said, I see no need for a MWD with those tractor range bonuses, but you can fit as necessary for the mission. Since so very little of your time in the Noctis will be dedicated to anything other than salvaging, the i-stabs you can keep as they speed up the two big time sinks in a noctis: traveling and turning towards the wrecks. I run a 5/3 tractor/salvager ratio (if I don't have my orca) and find that plenty efficient.
If you want some tank, it should be buffer so the missioner can kill anything scrambling you while you warp out. So if you're tanking, I would use a T2 suitcase and 2x reinforced hull T2s, because real men hull tank (possibly throw in an invuln field and LSE T2).
I don't have the numbers in front of me but I think that T2 salvagers with salvage rigs is probably a waste of at least 2 rigs. Fit cargo optimizers or low-friction nozzles or whatever. Looks good though. |

The MWD is there primarily to get you into warp in 10s. It's also handy if you do post-mission clean-ups, where you might have misjudged or misplaced the bookmark and have to scoot over a couple of kmà with the base speed of that brick, it'll take a year or two without an MWD. |

You can use MWD post-incursion. In fact it is the post-incursioniness part of my fit
