My steam version of EVE has just done an update because I haven't used it on my laptop in 6 months or so. Why is it that when I go to run the game it has 1.3GB's of updating it wants to do through EVE not steam.
I specifically bought the EVE Client on Steam because most updates and installs I do, do not count towards my 60GB download limit so because the steam version is not up to date I have 1.3GB's less data in the month to download.
I would like to see the steam version of EVE updated to match the version of the game within 24 hours. When a new expansion is released the steam version should start updating during downtime.
I paid good money to get access to the EVE steam client, I want to make proper use of what steam has to offer. ---

Indeed the steam client is not up to date, i had the trial and purchased the game and i got the expansion, after i reinstalled, i downloaded the game from steam, and ended up with Tyrannis exp.. Which isn't really good enough.. So, where can i download the game from this site? If thats even possible..

EVE will keep itself up to date. I have been playing on a 'EVE Tyrannis' copy i got off steam a few months ago. The client itself updated with no problems and there was never any issues. But it seems today Steam figured out that Tyrannis is not the current expansion and deleted it to install Incursion, which was already installed and up to date.
I followed the last posters advice and deleted my Steam version and downloaded a client.

So today I boot Steam, and it decides that before I can play EVE again (I played it normally yesterday, it was updated to 1.1.2), I now need to download a 7.5GB "patch"... which is coming at the mind-boggling speed of 130KB/s... yay.

It shouldn't suck...
As I explained above and if you would have read, I use steam for a specific reason. It means that (If EVE was to update steam version immediately) I won't have to use up my monthly download limit.
I live in Australia and being that this isn't a perfect world, there are no "Unlimited" Internet connections available here. So I have 60GB to play with and to make that last I download un-metered content at every opportunity. ---

Edited by: Baron VonLootwagon on 02/02/2011 09:54:13 Steam just now decided it was going to "update" EVE on my computer (at a slow rate.) When it finally finished, EVE crashes at the splash screen. Should I even bother trying to reinstall, or will it just pull the same crap on me? Should I complain to Steam / wait it out?
Edit: My game was already up-to-date and working fine hours prior.

Yeah the same thing happened. As said above, best thing to do is to delete the Steam version and just download the client for the EVE site.

Edited by: Baron VonLootwagon on 02/02/2011 22:56:53 Ok, it's now the next morning for me and Steam has started to update again. I'm going to download the EVE client while I wait and see if this fixes the problem at all.
Edit: No, wait, not going to do that considering the bandwidth hogging and possible installation problems.

This just happened to me today. 7GB "update" through Steam after I was playing just fine a few hours earlier. And of course the entire client got deleted first so I guess I don't get to play any Eve for the next couple of days. Steam didn't even give any type off warning before it poofed my perfectly working client to "update" it.
Do anyone know how to turn off the automatic update through steam? When I select "do not update this game automaticly" the update pauses. And when I unpause it, it immediatly goes back to "always keep this game updated".

only sure way to prevent Steam from updating stuff is to run it in offline mode.
