I had written out a long blah blah blah about this, better just to give you the change suggestions raw.
- Increase the number of low sec systems by 1400 (to about 2300 systems).
low sec mechanics: - boosted station defenses (not gate) - docking rights based on standings. - aggression in sight of stations reduces your standings to that station corp owner.
I have reasons for (duh) ... but I'll not pollute your brains with that kinda stuff just yet. .

oh, should mention "how".
Have the empires (even the pirate factions) build gates around WHs. Not to existing wormholes but a bunch of others that they find ... that way you even have low sec with WH properties... .

Some "side effects":
- ship size restriction into those low sec systems because of WH/gate size limitations but bigger ships can be built inside at POS. Those ships obviously can't leave if they are larger than the gate size limitations. - No cynos... - If you are aggressive in the system stations start shooting you on sight (despite sec status because of station corp owner standings), before that you'll be denied docking rights. This means locals can't be aggressive against newcomers if they want to keep their docking rights but can of course retaliate against people already flagged. - no local? - wh special effects
... .

I really like the attempt here, but I don't think low sec needs to be fixed. it allready plays an important part of eve.
i mean, where would randome high sec groups who wanted to blow stuff up for a night go? u go into null sec and run the risk of running into an alliance blob...no fun there. answer? Low sec :)
However, I would like to see low sec become more profitable...

Some major flaws; #1: What the hell are Empire corporations doing manning stations outside of Concord jurisdiction? #2: Makes sense for the pirate factions, but then they would hardly go and deny docking to capsuleer pirates. #3: WH effects with static entrance = perma-bubbled. Setup shop in POS with main corp and have neutral alt act as ferry man for stuff in station. #4: Why? What is the incentive? For what purpose? #5: Not sure if adding a ton of systems and then segregating them from low-sec can be called a low-sec 'fix', but lets run with it for the time being

Woah there! You were supposed to sip the CCP Kool-Aid, not bathe in it!
Low-sec is the red headed stepchild being beaten to death by bugs/lag introduced whenever CCP adds some new gizmo in null .. it is very much broken.

- docking rights based on standings.
ummm, their npc stations which are open access to all.
Want station lock downs, 0.0 is that away. Its a right they pay for....starts with the monthly sov bills then the 30 billion isk for the egg. Even have to carefully pick 1 feature you want since the 4 stations do 1 thing great and suck at the rest (you could put a refine mod on a non-minny station...its efficiency with max skill skills and beancounters will still suck big time though).

Edited by: Ravenal on 03/02/2011 01:01:08 /edit: actually "said that stuff in the original rant that I deleted" but I actually didn't say anything about low sec having a problem as it is... there just isn't enough of low sec :)

I said low sec is fine, there just needs to be more of it :)

I also said that, same as above... there just needs to be more of low sec that doesn't require "fixing".

Just like replying to lots of responds.

1. uuh, that's what low sec has always been... 2. why not? They go shoot their ships in the belts. Why not just tell them to go b*gger about some place else? 3. eh, low sec = no bubbles. 4. sandbox man, whatever you can think of. 5. no, its MORE low sec... see above.

With that open mindedness you'd still have cavalry ravens, module activation in warp and max 40k cruiser rats... .

so...you would have an open mind to having lv 5's (well hell all mission agents to include fw) moved back to empire...and therefore give up one of you better chances at finding targets?
CCP lets pirates lock down the station, station has a level 5 agent. How would a runner get access? CCP would have no recourse but to move lv 5 back to empire. Be about as pointless as having a soe agent in an nc controlled station. No one but nc or pets could use them. This one of the reason why in 0.0 there is no mission agent mod btw. Also why even in 0.0 alliance can't control npc 0.0 systems. All agents have to be accessible to all players, so do the stations those agents are in (how else can you talk to them).

I cant resist the urge to tell you to go somewhere.... No docking? Standings? Not enough that pirates cant enter high sec we wont be able to enter low sec? Not everyone want to sit in a damn nulsec. ---------------- Women - can't live with them........the end. - Al Bundy |

I fail to see the relevance here...

It's a suggestion ... did you see the "no local?" item or did you stop reading? See, you could have low sec status but good standings to that corp and dock... It's just another decision to make and only around stations and individual standings for each corp... .

All low sec needs is to implement that Corruption idea somebody posted a long time ago.

Whatever they do, there are still reasons to add more low sec systems... .

Okay, so first there's no enough people in low sec, and now ytou want to increase the size of low by 166%? You'll never find a target in low sec if this happens.
