Did the same genius who figured boot.ini was a good thing to delete also code your current install routine? I am unable to install because i have a tight c partition designed for the os and critical apps only. Somehow your product sees fit to try to extract itself into this drive when there is no space for this to occur. Some nice person went through the trouble of coding a dialog to specify the extract location in the menu but I am not allowed to interact with that and it elects to just take off with the default option. Quality work guys, absolutely exemplary.

Edited by: Doublewhopper on 02/02/2011 22:05:41 Well i'm using Linux to play EVE and that is where i learned a lot of workarounds for many such cases.
You have two easy options beyond repartitioning your system...(or using another computer to unpack the game, then doing a backup to a usb drive)
a) Figure out the location where the installer wants to extract to and make an NTFS symlink from there to another partition where you have enough space. (At least that is how you do it on Linux where it will default to somewhere like Document//Application Data//...//Temp).
To create symlinks with NTFS you will need to use google to find a tool to do this for you.
b) If you don't want to go with links, then there is always the fallback installer. To get it, download the same file from the same location as the patch, but without the "_m" at the end. This will give you the installer without the data. Now be aware that this installer wants to download the data if you execute it and then will place it again on the wrong drive. To avoid this, you need to download the file yourself and put it next to where the installer is. This can be anywhere now. To get the correct file, you need to analyze the .exe of the fallback installer which will contain the download link and should be something like xxx.7z if i remember correctly.

The EVE installer and the EVE client use standard Windows locations for temporary files, downloads, cache, settings, documents and screenshots.
Specifically on Windows 7 these are:
Temporary files, downloads and client updates: C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE Cache and settings: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE Documents and screenshots: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\EVE

You have created your partition wrong if this is the case. A Windows partition has the best results if it is twice the size of the final image size, this means a minimum of 30GB for a basic Win7 install. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Dude, way too complex.
You just have to change the environment variables if you don't want programs to use the default temporary locations. This is one of those times where CCP did absolutely nothing wrong, as rare as that might be. Typical user=id10t error..

Examples with default Windows settings on a single-drive, single-partition machine. The client use the CSIDL constants to find these locations.
