Have to go to Europe for 6 weeks, uncertain if I'll have any access to Eve from where I'll be stationed. Please advise what skill to start training for now (I leave end of May) that'll get me a six week stint to get from lvl 4 to lvl 5. I was thinking Marauders. Am I right? Any other suggestions? Gearing my character for PVE/PVP
My remap is geared to Intelligence and Perception, (taken from Charisma which has least therefore) and all learning Implants are +5
**Time Passes, Eternity Awaits, Jesus Saves, and no you can't take Eve with you.**Hi to all my Eve Youtube friends, you kno who you are *\o/* traditional500 channel |

I assume you fly a Kronos if not a Golem, and since you're a PVP/PVE pilot, Marauders V seems like the obvious choice.
Another option, although it has a much lower "set it and forget it" factor, is to use remote desktop software (such as Team Viewer, gotomypc.com, logmein.com, etc - take your pick) to update your skills while you're away. I'd assume you would need your own laptop to do this in case you can't install programs/use proxies (remote desktop websites may be considered proxies) on a gov't issued computer. --- Join Lowball Heavy Industries. Small, focused fleets - lots of high intensity action, the EVE way. |

The only other really long skills (around 50+ days) are
Fighter 5 Fighter Bomber 5 Capital Ship 5 [Racial] Titan 5 [Racial] Carrier 5 [Racial] Dread 5 Fleet Command 5 Capital Ship Construction 5 Outpost Construction 5 Doomsday Operation 5 Jump Portal Operation 5
Marauder 5 is less time than all of these, but it's the longest for a non capital character.

I'd do the above, or find a friend you trust, you'll most likely get more benefit from training a bunch of shorter training skills than one lvl 5 long train.

You're right it is technically not allowed according to the Eula. But that is mostly in there to cover CCP's ass. There not going to get butt hurt about a friend logging on to train a skill for someone while they are away

They will also laugh at you if your 'friend' steals all your stuff.
Have you considered copying your eve install to a USB?

Why not? When I upgraded computers I copied my EVE folder to an external HD then copied it back to the new HD and it worked perfectly.

You can force train a skill with EVE HQ. You don't need to be logged into the eve server to train skills if you have that. It's just like evemon but with more stuff that you'll never use.

I use logmein to connect to my home machine from anywhere and stick stuff on train when I've messed up my training queue :)
wyse pocketcloud on android phones also works to do the same while on the move, sure its slow and a bit of a pain on a touch screen but its doable.

Since CCP won't allow stacking skills more a given limit, you HAVE to keeping checking in on a regular basis. It's how they inflate total player numbers. Never mind the length of time required to take too many skills to L5 is utterly ridiculous. But again, the reasoning is the same.

Get EVE on Steam, then you can download and install it anywhere you have access to the interwebs. There are two sides to the EVE community; those that scream for change and those that scream against it. Often they are the same person. |

Yes, Marauder or many other ship skillz can easily take over a month, e.g. Racial Battleship, or Battlecruiser, or maybe Racial Cruiser, depending on your implants and your attribute remap (if you do remaps and haven't just equalized across the board).
Or if non-T2 ships are too fast, then Marauder or some other T2 ship that appeals to you. Or Advanced Weapon Upgrades.
