Hi people! I want to learn some PvP, I'm totally noob in that matter (exept for being killed by lowsec pirates, wardeccers of sort and running from ones).
When I tried to find some PvP in lowsec all I ran into is gatecamps (far too much for solo rifter to handle) and got run over by PvP fitted 'cane. As I understand the prime way of lowsec combat is to camp some gate, but that way I'll just kill some carebears (which is *not* enjoyable by my oppinion). So can you advice where I can learn some PvP basics without becoming a pirate? I'm leaning to join some caldari militia corp (since my main toon is on good terms with caldari), although I heard something about RvB (not sure what that means). I'm mainly running missions, so got a lot of SP invested in missiles, shields and so on.
P.S. I understand that I will be losing a lots of ships, but losing all fights before they begin (like rifter vs. hurricane) is not fun IMO.

Edited by: Cpt Boomstick on 04/02/2011 22:33:05 Duel corp mates to structure, rep up, make fit changes if needed, and do it again. Talk to each other, find out how long its taking to cap him with neuts, take note of damage you're dealing as relative to the transversal you have with him. Whats the sweet spot for your ammo / gun types, how fast, how much orbit, etc.
You'll learn a lot in 15 minutes of testing with a guinea pig. If you're new the chaos of real pvp will get you too worked up to notice the little details.

RvB(perma wardeck between 2 corps where gf is the motto) or FW are options.
However you will not regret it going the hard route in Low Sec, reality is the best teacher and brings you to a point where you are really able to see things coming, separate traps from fights and learn the ropes to not become a easy KM no matter where you are.

I'd really recommend doing a couple of the agony unleashed courses
They are well worth the Isk.
RvB is a lot of fun. Give it a try.
Lowsec can be a lot of fun, even in cheap frigates, as long as you have some idea of how lowsec mechanics work. For better results, bring a friend or two in a cheap frig.
If you would like a couple tips or someone to fly with give me a shout in game.
Good luck!

FW is a good place. You'll die a lot but can get a good mix of small and large scale pvp. The militia's run everything from t1 frigate gangs up to significant capital fights. Run FW missions and you'll learn to make a very good income with low SP in low sec too. There isn't a shortage of veterans who will help you learn to fit ships and use them too. New players are viewed with suspicion however. So just be aware that it will take time for people to get to trust you. It doesn't matter which militia you join, I suggest going with whichever one you have the best faction standings with.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

RvB is a great place to start, especially if you are a low SP pilot. Frigates and tech 1 cruisers are king here.
