It feels like some time after I complete my character's customization, the lighting suddenly changes, broadcasting shadows over the face and ruining what I had going. Is this normal? I've had 3 character portraits experience this so far, is there any way to restore them to how they were?
Please?

Character portraits when submitted are re-rendered by the servers at CCP with full settings and AA, this can mean there are some slight changes depending on what setting you used to create the picture in. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Have also noticed this *problem*. YES, it is a problem. Please turn this feature off, as it ruins portraits. Lowers quality of shadows, improves AA at the cost of morphing the face slightly out of proportion, just turn it off. The 128x128 port we all see in game gets no improvement from this feature.

The 128x128 is the size that benefits most from the AA.
CCP do this to ensure all portraits are of the same quality. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Actually, no the 512x512 benefits most from the AA, and no one ever sees that one unless they go digging in the cache, the 128x128 version looks best if it's simply compressed properly. The CCP added AA *DISTORTS* the original avatar, *DECREASES* lighting detail from properly dithered around the edges to a solid blob. You have it backward, the AA makes portraits worse, and turned my avatar from what I thought was just right in proportion to slightly longish. Blegh, undo please, /signed
