Yesterday my corpmate lost his templars. I really don't know what happened. But ok. I offered my help for scanning for them. It seemed as little and fast scanning job. Normal drones are staying passive when you forget it in space. Bit i found that these templars flew around whole solar system! I need to scan down each of them! And i need to use 64AU range because of distance. It takes about 20-25 minutes to scan down each 1 drone. And there is 6 or 7 more templars in space today
I have skills for scanning at lvl4. In my fit: - sisters combat probes + extended probe launcher (will get faction one soon) - ship Helios (assault ships in lvl4) - 2 T1 "Gravity Capacitor Upgrade" rigs
So. There are my questions: 1. What happened with those drones? Why they don't stay in space passively and flew around the system? 2. What i change in my fit, skills for improving speed in cases like described? 3. It scanning procedure for ships/drones different that scanning for plexes?

Fighter drones warp to deep safes when abandoned. Not big on scanning so can't help there
--------------------------------- Pillage, then burn. Everything is air-droppable at least once. There is no 'overkill.' There is only 'open fire' and 'time to reload.

If this is true, then what stops you using this method to create a quick deep safe ?
At the moment the only way is to mwd in a fast ship, for a very long time, and you are still restricted to the maximum distance you can go too with the recent deep safe updates.
Couldn't you just abandon a drone on purpose, scan it down, and warp to position, and now you have a deep safe ? Surely a quicker method then the current one...

I remember back a few years ago while running some missions with my Carrier the server went down and my fighters were scattered all over the damn system I was in. A GM was able to help me retrieve the fighters by warping me to one fighter at a time. I don't recall there being any pattern to how the fighters were scattered around the system, and I'm pretty sure that none of them were within 1AU of each other.
As for improving your scanning skills, check THISout, it'll help answer a lot of your Exploration & Probing questions. --- If you've read something I posted and want to contact me, EVE-Mail me, or contact me via EVE Gate. |

If we're bringing up safes, this whole "mwd out forever" is a terrible idea. Even if you're in a Dramiel doing 6km/s, it takes almost 7 hours to go 1 AU. Logoffski is still the answer. They nerfed super deep safes, not regular ones. BMing the fighters could give some decent safes though.

I thought the deep safe update just stopped you from being able to make bookmarks, and moved all current deep safe bookmarks to the very edge. I used to make deep safes by abandoning fighters. Not sure what safes the fighters warp to these days. --------------------------------- Pillage, then burn. Everything is air-droppable at least once. There is no 'overkill.' There is only 'open fire' and 'time to reload.
