Currently all hi-end moons are accounted for and controlled, mostly by big alliances. The population of eve growth, while supply of e.g. technetium remains fixed. I propose to make output per moon variable, with growing costs of production, e.g. output=(cost/(current cost))^2. Sometimes it'll be cost effective to increase output, sometimes to decrease. I guess it adds to sandbox feel of the game.

This could be applied to Mining as well. Stupid Macrominers, it is finally time for your end.
Also, fix Ice Harvesting, it is too slow, and too un-rewarding. -- As an Amarr Defector, I chose to become a Mercenary and Industrialist. I also have one goal in mind: Create a new age of peace and prosperity for all four empires. |

Divvy up moons into gaseous and metallic pools. Randomize dominant material vein every two to six months within said pools. Have next material coming up be known on same schedule (requiring resurvey). Give PI ability to produce some or all moon materials through alchemy at low rates.
Result: Every moon has potential to be very profitable. Fat-cats relying on income from moons will have to be on constant warpath to secure revenue stream. PI becomes something those without a bazillion super capitals can use to augment income.
Fixing null, one stupid mechanic at a time.

I agree but Devs seems agre againt depletable moons. Now moons are what define the political map of 0.0, if they will 'jump around' alliances will be way less stable. Now we have 'fat cats getting fatter' with an idea that hungry upstarters will try to take it from established alliances

Exactly. Problem of course, one that CCP cannot possibly be ignorant of, is that the hungry upstart has no hope in hell of defeating a 100+ super-capital bloc. So they have to align with some other bloc which are themselves fat-cats who withdraws to get fatter after a few fruitless sessions of butting heads.
CCP seriously needs to sit down and figure out just what the hell they want Eve to be. It is as if they completely lost focus after Dominion failed to break up the blobs .. I fear they may have given up

In one of the previous discussions regarding moon mining I had suggested something similar in that every moon would have every material present, just in different concentrations. Some moons would naturally have higher concentrations of certain types of materials.
I had based the quantities on the rarity, thus if you wanted to mine Dysprosium, it's quantities would be (on average) 1/64th that of, say, Atmospheric Gasses or Silicates, not taking into account a moon having a 'bonus' for a particular material.
Moons with a bonus to a particular material would just have the rarities changed. Dysprosium might have quantities equal to an R8 on a particular moon
Those wishing to mine a moon would follow the normal procedures used today with one change: The moon miner would utilize a script/crystal much like those used by mining lasers to focus the miner on extracting that particular resource. The script/crystal would degrade over time and need replaced.

I agree with the idea, among other things it should revive moo scanning mini-profession. However, I guess it'll make market way more volitile, just like PI did. while this is good for me (I sometimes try to manipulate market, or ride along really big manipulators) this may discourage industrialists.

Have the moon mining pos mods sit outside the shields, and lower hp so they can be destroyed with a fairly small group.
This would introduce a bit more gurilla tactics and smaller groups could disrupt larger ones.
I also wouldn't say no to a moon mining ship.
But poses in general need a big overhaul. |

This will negatively affect supply of moon materials. I guess whine about 20%+ growth in ship/module price overweights joy of few gerrillas. We should devise the way to overcome hard limits now in place, like finite number of technite moons, not lower the limit by disrupting output.

Maybe do the randomized moons thing... but in w-space, and leave k-space the same.
Moon mats supply goes up, but 0.0 politics stays the same and it's a much bigger hassle to get the extra stuff.

Wish list for PI:
*One-click input routing *Copy product, inputs & outputs in factories *Launchpad upgrades: twice the space, twice the cost, half the hassle! [ /sig ] |

This.
My mind always wanders off to starcraft 2 when trying to think about moon minerals... The current situation is like having huge amounts of never-ending gold minerals in your base, just bunker up around it and you'll never lose a match

This aloows w-cats to get fatter... I myself hoped to scan moons in w-space before it was finalized and set with no minerals.
