Successful? What game does Zulu work for?
Maybe CCP has finally learned no longer to cater for a minority but produce content for everybody. Especially when said minority will whine about any new feature unless it is one that totally unbalance the game in their favor.

Originally by: CCP Zulu At least our new PCU record of 63.170 leads us to believe that you, our players, are happy with the content and delivery of what we've been doing.
If that were individual users, I'd probably agree. However, going on what I see when flying around, everyone seems to have an average of just over 2 accounts logged in at the same time, so that's actually only 31600(ish) individual users. Please find a way of differentiating so we can have a more accurate idea of exactly how many people are logged in.

It's irrelevant, since a logged on user is a logged on user and that is what counts with PCU. Alts spend the same amount of server resources, this is the way EVE PCU record has always been measured, so it is comparable to previous results, and I'm pretty sure every game measures this metric in exactly the same way.
Even increased amount of alts is an indication that players are more willing to play the game and are therefore happier with the game. People don't pay for multiple accounts, if they hate the content being provided. What you want is an interesting piece of info, but not really relevant to Zulu's point.

Ah, statements from execs are always so much fun. "We're doing many amazing things! Just you wait and see!" Rather than start out as a rant, let me be very clear, Zulu you're doing it right now and many of us are very happy about that. Keep up the good work. Ok, now that that's over with. You've provided no detail, no timelines and set no expectations. How can we as a customer be engaged and hold you accountable with this kind of blog? Oh, that's right, we can't. Cause that's how it works. I'm sure you don't let team BFF sell you this line of "great things are coming! we promise!". You say tell me what you're doing and when it'll be ready by. It's full circle. We expect that too. You've got your methods down and it seems to be working very well. You've had some adjustments to your priorities and that's working for you too. Now let's get down to business and put some kick a$$ $hit out there.

I'd like to point out the following:
A blog, by definition, is a place where the writer shares thoughts, observations and experiences. It is a forum for personal expression, to share things you're excited about, and to let the world know what you've been up to lately. All information shared is voluntary and up to the writer.
It is NOT a place where the writer has to justify himself in front of his audience, or where he is required to provide accountable promises of future actions. It is also not a professional business reporting tool. So please don't treat it as such.

Are you trying to imply that there is some rule that keeps someone from using it as a business reporting tool? That someone might not provide accountable promises of future actions? (Where else would CCP promise their customers to improve the situation caused by <insert thing here>? Do you get some kind of business plan or insider info or official statement from somewhere else?) Or that official CCP statements must not contain solid background information that actually explain and justify actions and decisions?

Ban Doga, dev blogs are CCP ways of talking the community in an official and wide spread way.
you don't pay for dev blogs
If CCP wanted to release a weekly dev blog on the type of music they play in the office, they would be entirely in their right to do that.

Quote: We've been discussing the Incarna projectÆs rollout plans and integration into EVE with the CSM since mid-last year and we're happy to say that we're coming to a place where we can begin dialogue about actual features and gameplay that's been in development. WeÆll kick it off with a blog from the team working on captains quarters next week that should lead quite nicely into several presentations at Fanfest.
From reading the above, I get the impression that we'll hear more about the captains quarters, but that information about actual features and gameplay will first be revealed at Fanfest; that we shouldn't expect much Incarna information here following the initial blog?

Exactly my point.
It's official communication. Expecting something solid is not as absurd as some people seem to suggest it is (iow. this is not "just some blog").

No one complained about CCP writing dev blogs (or complaining about them not writing a devblog about their music) so I'm not sure where you're heading with that statement.

Regarding dev blogs, they are, no matter what the format, communication(s) from company representatives.
If that communication is fluff and without substance, then that is how both author and company will be perceived.
Don't let profit-centric entities fall short of providing *something* of decent quality just because they are using softer, social media-type methods of communication with their customers.

Dear CCP Zulu,
Thank you for your blog and even a cynical character like me can forgive the self congratulatory tone, you and the CCP team have no doubt earned a cold beer or two for your efforts over the last few months.
Perhaps you are now more comfortable in your role as senior producer than you were, or perhaps your writing has become more lucid through the wisdom of age or the buoyancy of success but I take my hat off to the subtlety of your trolling:
Originally by: CCP Zulu The Incursion voyage means even more ôlittle fixesö from Team BFF in the future
Not a troll line or an outright jibe, just a pair of quotation marks round the words "little fixes". TouchT sir, for those two little quotation marks speak volumes.
A look through the 1000 papercuts thread linked in CCP Soundwave's blog shows more than just the volume of work team BFF have in front of them, it shows that Eve is all grown up now, CCP's baby has become a middle aged lady and a high maintenance one at that.
The meme tells us that 'Eve is dying' yet she continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the dedication of yourself and others, I applaud the way you've responded to player concerns and hope that we continue to see "little fixes" long after team BFF have moved on to other things. Perhaps you could call it team botox?
Regardless, us players are generally a fussy bunch and the whine will continue to flow, last year's excellence threadnought will be this year's botting issue and the malcontents will never go away. If you continue as you have done for the past few months however then Eve will be a long way from dying.
+1 to CCP

I just stumbled upon the German version of this blog on the features page and all I can say is: Whoever does your translations needs to step away from the booze and/or take some lessons in German.
Some of that could actually be mistaken for the output of an automated translation tool which doesn't know that a good translation should capture the contents and the spirit instead of sticking to the individual words.
I remember one of your newsletters asked if I use the English or the German version of the client. The answer is still the same: The English one! Because the German version sounds like some kid is playing wannabe editor for a school newspaper and gets confused with the big words.
