Hi, I have been having issues with uploading videos of in game play. I use Fraps to record and Sony Vegas Pro 10 to encode the videos. I use the following Sony Vegas settings:
Audio: 128 Kbps; 48á000 Hz; 24 Bit; Stereo; AC3 Video: 29,970 fps; 1920x1080 Upper field first; YUV; 16 Mbps Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,000
The problem is when I view the videos with a local player they display perfectly, but when I upload them to youtube they get blurry. Here is a sample so you know what I talk about, if you view it in 1080p it is very clear what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WekTtQsGr9s
Does anyone know what I can do to make it as crystal clear as with my local movie player?

record with fraps, upload with Picasa..its their own software (google=youtube),there is button "convert video" it will encode it...then there is button "upload to youtube"...works like charm
No that turned out exactly like when I uploaded it without picasa. Here's the result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMmZhEmCdcI Still blurry on text and details. Any other ideas?

Ratio mismatch is causing scaling artifacts. Change your Eve resolution to a 16:9 ratio (e.g. 1920x1080 versus 1920x1200) then record and all will be well.
Oh I see. So which one is 16:9? 1080p or 1200p? 1920x1080 is the max I can get according to EVE settings though.

Such as this one
That is the same as mine as far as I can see, the text and other details are not crystal clear like when you play the video with your own local video player.

Originally by: Tippia Afaik, anything that triggers a re-encoding on their side will kill any tweaks you've made on your end, and their encoding is set up in a more general-purpose fashion that handles all video acceptably, but nothing spectacularly. I don't remember off the top of my head exactly what parameters they require of you in order to leave a video alone, but that should be listed somewhere in their FAQs (or just google it).
My guess would be that your audio isn't in the right format, or your bitrate is too high. Naturally, squishing it down will also reduce the image quality, so you might very well end up with something that looks like what they already give you.
I had no audio so that was not the issue. Neither is the bitrate since they only have a max size and max lenght. I use the same aspect ratio too, so I really do not know what the issue is. Even if they re-encode it it still stays 16:9 1920x1080 so it is something else that is causing this.

Originally by: Tzar'rim Best thing I found is to pick a windowed resolution that youtube really likes (it's in their help section somewhere) and stick to that. Also, it really depends on your encoder and the qualities you set there. Toy with the Mb/sec encoding, different encoders (don't use Vegas' built in one) and all that.
Also, you don't have to fraps at 30fps, that's just a waste for something like EVE. Set it to 15fps and you'll lower your file sizes a whole lot.
The thing is I found this youtube how-to video tutorial and the sample the author posted was excellent. I used his exact settings and yet it turned out fuzzy. The file size is not an issue, sure the pure fraps video are around 2GB for 1 minute, but after encoding it with h264 it ends up at 130mb with the exact same quality. I do not want to play windowed, I love filling my 24 inch screen, I like having a lot of room for windows and stuff.

I don't know if it's the problem you're trying to solve but that is certainly a problem. There's no reason why you should be exporting to, or editing with interlacing.
I don't think that youtube deinterlaces footage automatically (or at all) but if they were then you'd be losing half your vertical resolution.
Any idea how to change that? I just took the settings from a how-to guide on youtube.

I tried changing that setting and came up with the following:
Video: 29,970 fps; 1920x1080 Progressive; YUV; 15 Mbps Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,000
Unfortunately it turned out as crappy as before, even when I changed that interlaced thingie you said. Sample

Anyone got any other ideas? I have tried several different encoding templates but it always ends up blurry on details such as text. My resolution is 1920x1080 fullscreen on a 24" widescreen monitor. I frap at 30fps on full-size mode with forced RGB.
