Started out a few days ago with my main, who shall remain nameless.
My main noticed that there was frequently a wreck outside the station in Frarn(1 jump off Rens). Its a Brutor mission hub system, very busy.
Here's the tactic, drop a bait wreck with valuables in it. Get a squad outside the station "loitering". Passive targeters all round, any one going near the wreck is targeted up. As soon as you steal from them you are toast.
Except they didnt count on a wide boy like me turning up in a Catalyst with neutron blasters and 3 faction antimatter rounds per gun. They are thinking - Tee Hee Hee, He's going to steal from the wreck, get ready to blast him.
Instead I just blew the Frak out of the wreck, and the contents were valuable to say the least, Ha Ha Ha in your face, thats no way to get PVP, that like PVP for gutless fat perverts.

Funny you brought this up. It's been popping up near trade hubs lately. What I'd really like to know is how they manage to exploit and prevent the wreck from being salvaged. |

Because it's a can, not a wreck, usually. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

What's the "valuables" in them?
Btw, salvage the wreck so it looks like a regular can. Do it repeatedly for emo.

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 16/02/2011 12:07:35 Finally it's quite easy to deal with it if you NOT A NOOB and follow simple rules. Well, you can't blame Noobs for taking funny loot because that's the reason why EVE is great and has a painfully steep learning curve. Just expect a trap when you find a wreck especially in hi-sec offering awesome (fake-)loot to you like 4 PLEX in a 10.000m3 box for the noob hauler or freighter. Usually when you close to it off gate or station someone will lock you. Expect cloakers around the bait. If you like to get more intel why this wreck is here: check the wreck's owner and set the corp to red. Check local. This is not a final proof but can help to identify how many of this corp are in local. Google their killboard. Bingo.
If you bored and like to play a bit to pi*s them off try what I did (on your own risk): - bookmark wreck - warp to station - warp to wreck - align to station at full speed - if noone still has locked you: steal the loot (take care of the right timing by closing the warning message and hitting the warp button) and insta warp :-) - dock for 15 minutes and unbox the 2 Shuttles :-P - if your corp policy allows it: say "hello" in local
EVE is great, isn't it?

I kind of liked the part where he did the other thing rather than the first thing, but we all have our own preferences.
That romance part was epic though.

These wrecks can't be salvaged. The only other time I've ever encountered that is in 0.0 with hauler spawns where the content of the wreck will not fit in a jetcan (27.5k m3). Since the "loot" is just a gigantic box with, oh probably cap boosters, that's achievable.
Imaginative use of game mechanics. Just remember folks:
If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's blue, it's for you. If it's white, it's all right.

I missed a bit out last night, after I blew up the wreck one of them said "wft?" in local. I think he meant to type it in a private chat channel, but typed it in local by mistake. How I LOL'ed
AND I forgot that I smacked them in local for about a minute, but they didnt bite.

OR.. instead of shooting it you can just learn 3D flight... Make a line between you, the wreck and a place you want to warp to. Doesn't have to be picture perfect, as long as while you're at full speed and fully aligned to said point, you will get within looting range of said wreck.
Wait till your ship is within range, while going at full speed, aligned to warp place Pick up loot and drop into cargo hold Immediately hit warp Dock up somewhere for 15 minutes Profit
