Edited by: NG4ge on 17/02/2011 08:52:06 ...does it take for you to not care anymore?
Let me explain.
When I first started I had a massive fear of loss. After playing for a few years the fear of loss became less and less until now I just don't care (depending on the ship of course)
How many ships did you lose before you just didnt care anymore??

For me it wasn't the amount of losses, it was the amount of isk. When I noticed I can support my playing with quite little effort with plex and still pvp with semi expensive ships, I didn't care about losing anymore. I'm not pvping in any officer fitted ships though, but I do have faction mods fitted almost every time.

It depends on many factors for me.
I mean, losing an ishtar in under less than 5 seconds is crap, still. If i lose it after a hard fight, that lasts a little longer, i dont mind. Nobody likes jumping into a camp.
Right now i just fly T1 ships mostly, because they are affordable and not bad compared to some T2 counterparts. However, i do like flying T2 small ships.
I do not care much for any loss, but i do try to prevent it of course. But once im committed to a fight, i dont like disengaging which often results in a loss.

Ship loses arenÆt a factor. IÆm getting to the stage where me accounts will become PLEX paid and still have some healthy change. Who cares if I lose the ships the excess isk pays for. The growing skills and experience gained along with the corp objectives and growth being achieved is all thatÆs really important

I still care because every time I lose a ship it means I did something wrong/stupid, and I HATE stupid.

You don't have to be rich for not caring about it. Its the attitude that matters.

9 losses and 0 kills. What stinks is when you decide to abandon ships in WH space cos they're worth next to nothing and cos you cant fit them in your cargo hold when packing up. Then after an hour or so you get evemails saying you lost a ship cos some nobhead decided to kill a pilotless ship. They count as kills against you. PFFFFFF pethetic scoring system.

For me I think there are a lot of contributing factors.
1) Fear of loss 2) Fear of ISK loss 3) Fear of lost reputation
For me neither of these are an issue, especially reputation, due to the fact I have no reputation to protect.
I still get a rush of adrenaline when warping to a fight or being jumped on by a red Blob (I currently live in Geminate on the side of the NC, as alot of people will know its kind of a warzone right now) 2 days ago i managed to kill 30 reds and lost 3 ships....the 3 ships are a very small price to pay to watch Drone Ruskie Federation explode
Thank for everyone's reply

Stupid is if you don't learn from it.
But there is a 'scissors - paper - stone' element to this game that means you can't get it right all of the time.

Possible workaround: I haven't done it for ages but I think you can still self-destruct your ship?

for me its not simply how many, its just 'how' it is lost and how many kills it got before it died.
If i get a ship and loose it the same day with no kills, it get most annoyed.
If i get a few low price or easy kills and loose it in the first few days im mildly irritated.
If i get a few easy and few hard kills and it lasts a week before i die, then im just okay with it.

Which gets your pulse racing the most - popping that defenceless indy, or watching your own structure gauge turn red whilst in a ship that you really don't want to lose?
Chill out and enjoy the ride!

I think I fear loss to rats more than I do to players, don't know if anyone else feels that way.
Ship I most fear to lose is my carrier, its my best source of income

I love my Wolf. Cheap enough, I don't care if I lose it - I expect to lose sooner rather than later. Still get kills with it and just hope I give more than recieve. ****ups (like jumping a Cane into a bomber camp) hurts, even if it wasn't my ****up

Pretty much that. Losing a ship/isk is np, losing because of stupid however.. be it mine or some FC's fault, doesn't matter which, the result is the same. -

When I started playing this game, I've read somewhere that every ship you fly will be destroyed at some point and that you shouldn't undock what you are unable to replace. I took those advices seriously and never cared about my PvP losses.
However, I still care when the ship is lost due to a bug (happened a few times).

It does make me upset if I lost a ship solely on a preventable piloting error, but other than that, losses do not bother me.
Traps, blobs, ECM/ewar, neutral RR, spais, its all part of the game.
...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Yeah, I think bug's are the only time when I feel resentment for a loss, also sometimes when I die I just buy a GTC and cheer myself up by buying a swet pimped ship, only to sell it a few days later after I feel better :)
