This being my third Lolageddon I decided to prepare myself this time in advance. I run a small corp that mines daily, some in low, some in high, mostly high. The plan this year was to stockpile ore/minerals before the event to dump on the market the day after. 8 providence loads full of refined minerals ready to hit the trade hubs on March 1.
I determined to also have a backup hulk for every hulk in my fleet that I might lose. So I purchased 6 hulks before the price began to rise a couple weeks before the event, fit them and parked them in the station.
The plan was to take a few days off and just find something else to do. Even though I mined the entire event last year and the year before and never suffered a loss, I decided this year to just not take any chances. Then at the last minute, I changed my mind.
I figured, Hell, I have all these extra hulks and all of this ore stockpiled as insurance, why should I allow these misanthropes to affect the way I play the game. So I changed nothing. I continued on my normal daily routine of hoovering every belt in my chosen systems (they aren't even out of the way systems either) and have yet to see even one attempt on any of my ships.
2 days in now and I'm making isk hand over fist. Guess what I'm gonna do with all of this isk I'm making due to this non-event. You guessed it, buy more hulks and mine more roids. I even left 2 of my best fit ships in belts this afternoon for two hours in .5 by accident while my partner and I went to grab some lunch and came home fully expecting to have been podded but...nothing.
At this point, I've mined enough in 2 days that even if I lost every ship first thing tomorrow morning and do nothing the remaining 7 days, I will have still turned an amazing profit.
If the aim of Hulkageddon was to punish miners or "carebears" then please sir, I'd like some more. Punish me harder.
Teeth indeed.

Having just flown a hauling trip with an orca I was shocked to see just how many ppl are doing the same thing, and not a ganker in sight.

Hulkageddon is not to punish miners and "carebears." It's simply a mission to make them use their seldom used brains to prevent atrophy from setting in. We do it because we care! I'm sick of people misguiding the community to think we're doing this because we don't like carebears

Hulkageddon working as intended.
Congratulations on being a better-than-average player.

Of course it is! no one likes carebears, to insult someone in eve you either call them 1, a carebear and tell them their tears fuel your ship. or 2, tell them to go play wow!
I dont dislike Hulkageddon, Hats off to you if its your thing, i just dont get the point of a campaign to shoot things that you know full well cant shoot you back or defend itself. I know the thrill and risk is getting dry humped by concord but why not not have something like Concordageddon where you see how many police ships you can kill before you die?
Unless someone can tell me the reason what its aim is? changing the market prices on ships ores etc? or is it just for Sh*ts and giggles?
BTW this isnt a troll or cry, eve is eve!

In reality I want them to stand up for themselves, using the many means available in game to do so, rather than to passively sit by and cry to CCP, who will not help them.
That and people who think they somehow have the *right* to safety are full of a sense of undeserved entitlement; something we will yet get out of their minds.

You see that's the thing. You people assume everybody is botting. Some of them probably are but I most certainly am not. It's actually a lot of fun to run multiple accounts simultaneously. It's a great challenge keeping all of your beams going and the supply chain moving without any stops. It's quite addictive.
Besides, nobody actually believes this is about bots anymore. I really did until I saw that there was an organization allowing people to pay for protection during the event and at that point it became pretty clear what it really was. Extortion.
Oh and it's systems. I would never be so stupid as to have all of my eggs in one basket. If you want me, you're gonna have to find me and when and if you do, you will have to bring more than a couple destroyers to make a dent in my tank. If you take out a couple of my hulks, you won't get any tears because I'm actually sorta proud of the fact that it will take multiple people killing themselves to destroy a completely non-offensive vessel.
This game is all about honor for me. Honorable is fortifying oneself against the coming onslaught, straightening ones spine and staring into the face of evil and saying "Come and get me, no matter what you do I shall not break." Honor isn't 3 or 4 big kids beating the snot out of the special needs children while another stands to the side and offers them safety if they'll give him their lunch money. What that is pretty much speaks for itself.
Thanks though, to all of you, for making me a better (and much more wealthy) player and I don't mean that sarcastically. I won't be online much today. The weather is beautiful and I have loads of springtime yard work to get started but two corp mates will be on all day running dual hulk/orca setups. I invite you to find them and fling a few hulls their way. Just be prepared. They won't be your average ganks (your alpha better be damn good) and you won't get any tears from them. I pay them double time and a half during this event and just for ****s and giggles, I've asked them to mine in nothing higher than .6. After all, gotta give you guys a fighting chance.
My plans for the rest of the week are to continue on with business as usual. Happy hunting.

Ramma im the kind of person who would bring a BS or BC at the minimum so alpha wouldnt be a problem against any hulks tank (orca yea ofcourse but not a hulk), and actually your post screams exactly what we WANT miners to do, "man up, get a bit of self defense, and not take **** from anyone - eve style" :D, it shows you aint the average carebear ;)

heh, everyone in the game has the right to absolute safety which is always available. Stay docked and no one can kill you... even if they some how do, it will be an exploit and the killer will be banned for the game.
