Edited by: Sub Prime on 22/02/2011 14:53:18 At the moment, there is no skill requirement for flying a SC over and above the Racial Carrier skill at 3. Yes, Fighters 5 is required for Fighter Bombers, but any self respecting carrier pilot will have that. So, to all intents and purposes, a Carrier pilot can jump into a SC with no skill requirement and do proficient damage with only about 10 days training (Fighter Bombers 4). What I propose is to add more requirements to using Fighter Bombers as it's laughable how easy it is to get into a Nyx (if you can get one).
I propose the following:
Advanced Drone Interfacing V (changed to all drones apart from Fighter Bombers) being a primary skill requirement for the skill Bomber Control (lvl 14). Lvl 1 Bomber Control allows fitting of a Bomber Control Unit. Each level of Bomber Control allows the control of extra fighter Bombers (depending on SC). Fighters Bombers cannot be deployed without at least Bomber Control Unit (available at Bomber Control I).
Basically a character with lvl 5 Gallente Carrier would be able to deploy 20 drones in a Nyx (Non Fighter Bomber Drones). To enable the use of Fighter Bombers, the capsuleer must fit a Bomber Control Unit (Bomber Control I). Bomber Control I gives control of 8 Fighters Bombers with an added 3 per level thereafter. Fighter Bombers still count in the overall drone tally.
Also, I propose to add to Carrier DPS by getting rid of the painful Drone Control Unit by the following:
Advanced Drone Interfacing skill upped the number of deloyable drones without needing drone control units. This would mean that a Carrier pilot with Carrier 5 would be able to deploy 10 drones, with ADI 5, 15 drones. Although this would give the Nyx 25 drones with ADI 5, it would percentage wise be a bigger boost to carriers.
I know that Drone Control Units stop sub cap ships deplying more than 5 drones (apart from Guardian Vexor) even with ADI, but since the Racial Carrier skill enables more controllable drones for Carriers and SC's I can't see any reason why ADI can't work in the same way instead of working off the numbers of DCU's.
