I've been looking at trying to get a decent rattlesnake fit for pvp, but for a pirate faction battleship the DPS seems really low, even with torps. The drone bonus is nice, but it barely has enough cargo hold for 5 ogre 2's.
Compared with a t2 fitted typhoon it seems pretty weak, but maybe i am just fitting it wrong. Has anyone had any luck in pvp with this ship?

rattler is great for pvp if you dont mind the cost of losing one, which should always be taken into account. t2 torps, and SENTRIES...easily 800 reliable dps. seriously, people need to stop fitting JUST ogres, they are arguably useless.

If target is in range for rage torps, why not use ogres? More damage and track better than a ship next to sentries.
On topic of rattlesnake, I know a few friends who invested a few billion in modules and HG crystals to make the rattlesnake a godmode ship. I'm not sure there is any other way to fit a faction BS.

i didnt say not to fit ogres. but gardes can start applying similar dps instantly. ogres take 15 seconds to get to 20km which is bad.

I think you might need to look at the drone bay again, you must have misread something. It has a 400m3 drone bay.
The issue I have had with the Rattlesnake in PVP is its drone bay and DPS is so identical to the Gila. How the Rattlesnake compares to the Gila kills the rattlesnake for PVP in my book. The only real advantages of the Rattlesnake is that it can fit 2 heavy nutes pretty easy and that it will draw a fight easier.

The major disadvantage of Rattlesnake is poor agility, poor speed, low scan res
Also, it's a ship that emphasizes tank over gank. So it may be great for bait, but if you actually want to kill things, better get something more gank oriented. Machariel has the best qualities of PvP battleship.

Rattlesnakes are great for pvp.
They make them bad piwates go all horny and ****. Jump one through a gate and they lose all caution. Let everyone get hungry and even the logis trying get in on the killmail. Let them get half of your shields down before you light your cyno. Watch them scatter watch them die in a fire. Just be sure: there's ten minutes time to counterdrop them. But the tears are epic.
Ohhh wait, why did that just happen to me? Who lit that cyno?

I'm poised to call anyone saying the Rattler (a drone boat) barely able to field more than 5 25m3 drones a troll.
Last time I checked mine has:
5 T2 Garde 5 T2 Bouncer 5 T2 Ogres 5 T2 Hobgoblins
