Had a bit of spare LP to hand so got myself this ship. I like its looks but im hoping its not like its T1 counterpart - useless. Is the navy version good for anything?

utility high, drones, fantastic looks (sorry, i love the zelot, but the Nomen is pure sex).
the Nomen is a better ship against most things. of course the zelot has the range and resists. . . but yah. Both are good.

i used it for L3 missions. BC could have done better, but i decided to skip to BS, as goal was to run L4s. iirc, i was even using meta guns, instead of T2. it performed satisfactory.

I have always sold my navy omens. Using them is not worth it, it takes ages to earn one with LP and buying one is just expensive.
But looking at the skills of the boat, it looks fine, but because of its high value, ill pass. -If the enemy is in range, so are you- |

if you are unable to fly zealot or dont quite have decent harb skills the nomen is pretty damned excellent.
but a well fitted zealot will out range and out damage it, and a harb will out damage and easily out ehp it, though will be slower.

try this fit out if you have extra LP/isk but dont have the skills to fly a good sheild ship when you buddies go out on a sheild/mixed logi roams. Wait, did he just say sheild? OMEN?!?!? before you go all "OMG U SUCK" on me check the fit out. It has a lower sig radius then even an armor BC and its still faster with its afterburner then an armor ship with an MWD so you can speed tank battleships easy. It has 35k ehp with half decent resists. So far you say "well that still sounds like crap" but heres the kicker. It does 550 DPS. Yes I said 550..... on a cruiser. It hits at about 14km with conflagration and 31km with scorch. Basically its perfect for a roaming gang with a couple schimitars or basilisks for support cuase you can kill any smaller gang in seconds and gangs of bigger ships will be easily speed tanked. And the shock factor is great |

not quite. unless you want the cerb to have +1 launcher and frigate agility, which in that case I totally agree with you. ---

If it got a significant fittings boost to go with that launcher slot, I'd be totally stoked. :)

Of course the best thing about the nomen is that you could make a pvp video with it and then play The Prodigy - Omen (it's an omen!) in the background.

Stabber/FiS are rather different, one lends itself well to shield configs whereas the other is designed with armour in mind (yes, FiS is designed for armour), even though it works with shield as well.
Omen/Nomen are much easier to compare. You get a ton of extra fun in the Navy version: More drones, more firepower, more slots and an actual tank. Shreds the mighty Cynabal like nothing when flown right, only downside is the immense RoF makes T2 crystals burn frightening quickly .. it is the only ship I have ever flown where I have to carry spares from the outset

Yes. Nomens can pump out close 600+ DPs for FMPII's, a set of light drones, and can hit 20km+ with Scorch at 500ish DPS as well as a medium NOS up top with an MWD. Can squeeze 35-40K EHP out of them in the process.
PvE HPL's Nomens can approach 700DPS with heat and a minimal active tank. They are surprisingly good at blitzing L3's. It could just be that the purpose of your life is to server as a warning to others. |

if anything, minmatar ships are designed to be gankboats. it's more of a coincidence that armor goes into lows same as gyros. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

Personally, the navy omen looks to be a great anti-frigate/cruiser ship for L4 missions if you multi-box. Lately I've been debating picking one up for those annoying bastards that get in close. I figure if I dedicate a cruiser to anti-frigate work I can devote most to all drone space on the primary ships to sentry and/or logistics drones.
To that end I'm considering this pile of junk, or a variation thereof depending on what sort of money I can, and eventually do, throw at it.

As I said though, strictly for taking out sub-battleship NPCs. The DCII is really only there as a nod to Murphy's Law.
