Maybe CCP could even have got some useful information about the hacker getting him redhanded.
By the time they got around to the petition all his stuff would have been gone and possibly all of the corp's stuff, maybe even biomassed the character.
27 hours later they still have not even responded to the petition .. so .. yea :)

so you contacted your ceo... he used his friends computer to download eve, install it, patch it and then log in which took 4h INSTEAD of giving the details to you and letting you bump off the hacker which would have taken 30s?
Also a hacker in a situation like that would have self destructed the ship and not just sat there doing nothing on undock for an hour.

erm no.. the hacker was active for 4 hours on the account.. it took us 2 and a half to realize what was going on.. and it took him about 40 minutes to download and install on a 50 mbit connection :P
i asked him for his passwords, he refused.. his reasons are his own .. he likely knew worst case scenario he could petition and get everything back
as for bull, hey man.. it happened.. pretty much as i described it .. if you choose not to believe me, well.. that's your perogative..
as for why the hacker didn't pop the ship.. well.. who knows.. we were all waiting for him to, and he didnt.

What category?
The only one applicable seem to be "struck" as he couldn't log in and that one usually get a fast reply.

This made me giggle a bit.
However, overall this is a very well told and heart touching story. I never thought that I would say this to some pirates . . . give me a second . . . good job. *lets out a breath*

You lot saved your mate. Seriously. Had he taken the petition route instead of having your assistance and the opportunity, he would be out all, if not the significant portion of his assets.
I speak from direct experience. My account was hacked in the early hours recently. I logged on mid-theft. I changed all the passwords and petitioned, and when CCP finally got around to answering it 3 days later, of course, all the assets were gone, "sold to 'innocent' players" and not able to be returned.
Of course I protested, 'innocent' players my ass, etc. and I had to tolerate the indignation of being accused of buying ISK, etc. until I pressed the point by demanding an account audit.
Brute force hacking DOES occur in this game. It happens a damn sight more than I think is let on.
Good job on saving your mate. Good mates are hard to come by.

So, let me make sure I understand this.
It was in low-sec. Someone hacked your CEO's account(s).
He then proceeded to try to fly a bunch of random stuff out of low sec. He never contracted anything over to anyone else (like a nameless alt). He never touched the corp hangar. He didn't clean out the wallet. He never self-destructed the carrier, or the pod, despite being stuck there for an hour. He also never tried to redock the carrier in that time.
Uhm... Yeah. Sorry, I'm having to go with fiction here. Entertaining fiction, to be sure, but fiction nonetheless. Either that or the dumbest hacker in the history of EVE.

Confirming station guns will do this when you fire on your own corp members.

If your corp mate suddenly messaged you on MSN or something, knowing you can't login right now, asking you to give him your login info cause some hacker just took your account. Would you just give everything to him?
This is EVE we are talking about, a game that promotes treachery and scamming

I call BS. 1. Shooting corp members does not aggro gate guns. 2. The RMT would have transferred all the items over to an alt straight away and moved them from there and not used that character to ship them out slowly but surely. 3. Logging onto an account that is already logged in does not bump them offline ;)

It does, I remember trying to log onto my account a while back to use another character, while already being logged on with my main. Instantly boots the character already on to the log in screen. |

I regularly transfer between my desktop & laptop by logging onto one while still logged onto the other. I've never had it not disconnect the original connection.

All my petitions have been answered within minutes.
Mission in Progress, stuck of course always the fastest. Though EULA / Exploit would probably get the same attention.
Account would've been locked down for a couple days, but it would've stopped right then and there.
Of course he has the skills to use the smartbombs, he was in your CEO's account,....
Inconsistencies dont make this story sound very true,.. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Might be BS, might not. Who cares, entertaining nonetheless.
As for a couple points raised here.
--Gate guns not shooting corpmates Coulda been a group of mixed corpmates and blues. All he had to do was shoot a blue to flag up.
--Hacker would have done xyz Nobody said he was smart Also makes sense that the guy would move everything out with the CEO account, it was a lowsec system with the gates camped, how much luck would he have had moving everything with his neutral alt?
--Petitioning CCP woulda fixed it erm, no. Had a mate that had his account hacked and over 15bil of assets and cash stolen. CCP's paraphrased response 'Oh well, not our fault. Use a better password'
--Logging same account twice doesn't boot first account lol no Stop pulling information outta your ass and shut ya nublicious face-hole.

This. It's so bad that these thieves (they are not hackers, they are criminals) can steal and do whatever they want and never being caught. No one was caught, ever. So sad.
Anyway, good story, nice corp, lucky CEO.

I'd recommend reformatting
A lot of the time the victim used the same credentials to sign up for a website and the website was hacked. A LOT of login credentials for MMOs are stolen this way.
There used to be a program that scramled your keystrokes so this wouldnt be possible or at least a bit harder (yea nothing stays impossible long lol).

Yeah i love how EVE cant figure out where the isk goes and they cant seem to figure out anyone that gets isk from these guys isnt "innocent"
