Personally I thought firefly was semi decent but it wasn't as fantastic as a lot of people have made it out to be since. Like most Whedon stuff it just... tried to hard, to be edgy, funny, serious and just ended up being silly.
Obviosly this guy has no clue what hes talking about. Lex i.e. was silly too, but still awesome. And its not dead as long as enough people believe in its revival
Lex was silly and it knew it. Farscape was silly and it knew it. These were really good, fun to watch shows.
I found a lot of Firefly quite cringeworthy to be brutally honest.

I have watched the first two episodes of Firefly. It is not brilliant sci-fi but how it merges the old wild US frontier with deep space is interesting. A future where there is isolated down trodden pockets of space where the mercenaries can thrive. And the main point of Firefly which is credible is that despite technological development people and what drives them does not change.
Yes it does not encapsulate future technological trends such as AI but there is so much in scifi that is put in to make it enjoyable - such as spaceships that engage like old wooden combat galleons within visible distance. I really enjoy spaceship combat in scifi but I don't think such examples are the future at all.
I believe mankind will find new frontiers within 'inner spaces' far more than 'outer spaces'. Inner spaces of multiverses. To use a quote from the last Indiana Jones movie - 'aliens are in the spaces between spaces'.

No, you don't. Firefly would have been better off as a book because the show just did not engage me with Summer Glau as a space-ninja-with-mental-breakdown-in-Whedonverse.
I would say that you are right though, because it's easier and less risk involved which shows in Firefly.

Sorry but can you edit your statements to say that that's what you want? Rather than lumping the entire Firefly fanbase together as "wanting it as a book", because you really have no idea what people want.

people like you are the ones who make people that like a series like firefly in a more sensible way hide from society, in fear of being typecast with the rest of the furries...
slightly more on topic: while i found firefly very entertaining and it deserved a lot more than what it got back then, bringing it back now is asking for it to fail for the right reasons for a change, it would be a shame.

to be BRUTALLY honest, i just turned on the television a bit ago hoping for some scifi and saw i was right smack dab in the middle of a 5000 hour 'ghosthunters academy' marathon which was to be followed by a 5000 hour 'ghosthunters academy the new class' marathon.
As i put my revolver into my mouth and said my last goodbyes i saw this news about firefly.... i am interested.
/You can criticize firefly all you want, but if current scifi was the special Olympics, firefly is at least the ******ed kid running in the correct direction.

Firefly was a great show, and I wish it would have had at least a few seasons. But regardless, I just don't think it would work out. I doubt they could even get all the main characters back. (assuming it resumes at a point before the movie)

Actually most of the cast and some of the writers/crew have said they'd be on board if anything happened to bring it back, the problem would be their existing contractual obligations.

I watched the Firefly film Serenity - It was a lot more moody but a good story. They did a good job of creating an original story for people who had not watched Serenity that also appealed to Firefly fans with expanded storyline threads.
