Been playing pretty much sense day one, took a few breaks, longest when daughter was born... but any ways getting to that point again, sold my alts for isk so i can dumb it down to one account for the time being.
What games you play when you get bored of eve? I enjoy MMO's except one thing, which happens to be major in most MMO's... i hate XP And grinding, it makes them no fun for me... any suggestions? |

World of Tanks isnt bad. Or Minecraft.
I personally keep a WoW account updated that I occasionally activate when I want a little relaxation away from EVE.

I like AI Wars for some single player epic pew pew thats not eve based. Best rts on the market atm if you like your rts to require forethought and adaptive thinking. Otherwise just go play whatever cnc or starcraft clone you like for mindless rts action. Honorable mention goes to master of orion 2 and master of magic. Both of which are still just as fun and challenging today as when they were first launched as long as you can overlook the basic graphics. Past those games there are literally hundreds of other games that might fill your nights with engaging diversion depending on your personal gaming preferrences.

Browser-based free-to-play stuff. CastleQuest2 (Linkage), Illyriad Linkage or CarnageBlender Linkage, that's what I still play to some degree I used to play some of the Ironhelmet (Linkage) games like Neptune's Pride or Blight of the Immortals, but I grew tired of those eventually (the fact "nagware" for the for-pay options was a tad bit grating on my nerves didn't help... no idea why, it should have been easily ignorable). _

Another +1 to MoO2, that game is absolutely amazing. Graphics aren't great but still hold up pretty well for the purposes of the game. It can be a huge time suck, though (one... more.... turn... ).
I like to play a bit of Minecraft on the side, a little bit of Diablo 2, which I only recently played for the first time, and a little bit of an old space game called EV Nova. That last one is starting to show its age, but it's so easily modifiable that I can just change it up whenever I get bored with it.
I used to play a bit of SC2 as well, but Blizzard lolbalance . Might have to go reinstall my old copy of SC1, that was a fun game. |

Edited by: Sidus Isaacs on 27/02/2011 21:18:51 Almost no other MMO worth looking at. All just basically lame WOW clones (including that lame instanced **** tank game).
So I rather play some good games once in a while, like AI War, Civ4 (Cvi5 was ****) or a round of l4d2 with some friends. Heck, even a pen and paper D&D game beats most of this **** thats out today. Or even booting up my NES/PS1/PS2 form some good stuff.
But I got no need to be entertained all the time by games. I often read books or watch some documentaries, read up on my engineering field, or even other fields of interest. Heck even visiting friends.
Key to not get bored in EVE is to realize its just a game, and actually do other things most of the time.

As an alternate experience, and the culprit for me having long leaves of absence from EVE I blame LOTRO
With the change to F2P and many tweaks in the game lately (and a nice update coming soon) It's simply the best option for me.
on Single player sides I must say, games with endless replayability or open worlds
Silent Hunter III Freelancer X3:Terran Conflict
Also a nice option and special mention to MAGICKA ... it's fun and simple, has multiplayer too :D

i've been playing uncharted waters online lately. its a F2P MMO with boats, (imagine eve circa 1500 with sailing ships). the market is crap but the trading/transport aspect is pretty entertaining (ofc i do this in eve as well). Also, there's some opportunity for PVP once you get into the game a bit. Alot of the game is historically and geographically accurate, and it provides a nice break from eve for a history buff like me.

Uncharted Waters Online just looks like a total Rip of Voyage Century Online, but with slightly better graphics.
Even when I'm having a break from Eve, I still have my Mining Ship Alt Tabbed in the background. Usually play WoW for an MMORPG, GTA, Red Dead Redemption as some "Shoot everyone for the hell of it" on the Xbox, or Troll Forums.

Edited by: Barakkus on 01/03/2011 16:40:08 King Arthur - The Role-playing Wargame - I got burnt out on RTS long time ago with Starcraft, but this was on sale on steam for like $2 so I picked it up and it's probably the best $2 I've spent on a game :P I may be purchasing the new one coming out. The battles were a lot of fun, not sure if I want to spend the $50 on the new one though.
Call of Duty Black Ops - not so much anymore, the performance problems are too frustrating, and it's hard to play MW:2 after playing BLOPS since the mechanics of multiplayer are better in BLOPS imo.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior - it's alright, nothing stellar though, another one I picked up on sale on steam. Nice realistic sniper fps.
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - I got bored and re-purchased this one because of fond memories playing it long time ago...it's still pretty fun, but far from as sophisticated as most fps/rpg type games now.
EverQuest 2 - from time to time I get bored and will log in, really hard to get back into playing. Quit for a couple years after burning out on raiding. I occasionally pop in for a few months here and there, and I gotta get some use out of my IsBoxer subscription :P
Splinter Cell series - I got all of them except Pandora's Tomorrow when they were on sale on Steam, but I haven't played past the first because I want to play them in order. I picked up Pandora's Tomorrow from Amazon, but now my DVD drive isn't working, so I'm kinda waiting to replace that to continue the series. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

MMOs? D&D Online helped me scratch the fantasy itch until it went away. Neat free to play model. Will try out Champions Online or Lord of the Rings next time. Tried out Trek Online, was great fun for a month but still needs much more polish and content, maybe revisiting end of this year or next.
As for offline stuff. I just troll the vintage games that game mags try to entice you with. Sometimes there¦s some nice stuff in there. Spellforce 2 Heroes of Might&Magic 5 Icewind Dale (some day I WILL finished that one ) Settlers etc. Civ4
All those new games today are for crappy FPS kiddies. Completely retSrded. ______________ Mal-¦Appears we got here just in a nick of time. What does that make us?¦ Zoe-`Big damn heroes, sir.` Mal-¦Aint we just.¦ |
