Targets go to top between the modules and the selected item box, it has just enough room to fit 10 targets. The People & Places/Notepad/Scanner window also has the ships cargohold opening there when needed. Despite the windows taking up a large portion of the screen estate, I still have plenty of space for manual piloting without ever needing to minimize, resize or remove any of the windows.
The selected item box together with the drones box have also been resized to be exactly the same width as the station services. Additionally I have Overwolf overlay between the local chat and system info, giving me info about who's talking on TeamSpeak at any given moment. For the times I use Mumble, it's set up in the exact same spot where it's easily visible but yet doesn't take away from anything possibly more important.
The only thing the screenshot is missing, that I always have open, is my corps mapping tool that's used via the in game browser, I have that on the top left corner minimized when not looking at it, and when open, set to cover the local and people & places boxes. A related annoyance to that, if I'd have it set to reach the main chat window (the one where I keep all non-local chats), minimizing it would bring the chat window up with it and screw up the whole layout (hint at CCP, please add an option to not have other windows affected when minimizing a single window). The main chat window is also intentionally unpinned so I can quickly shuffle the chat tabs to the order I want them to be in, nothing more annoying than accidentally typing out something crucial in the wrong chat just because they're not in the position I'm used to them being (another hint to CCP, let us save the order of tabs). |

Fleet window with watchlist below go to the right of local chat. Targeted ships right above my capacitor/weapon slots. (short distance to click on weapons) Drones under the overview tab.

Akirei Scytale wrote:Vespa Peyri wrote:Akirei Scytale wrote:Your UI is still far too cluttered. Here's mine. Fleet, Drones, etc all go in the top left. Can you please tell me how you have your tabs labelled in big coloured text like that on the overview? Thanks! HTML in the labels. Here's an example: < color=0xFF81D96E >< fontsize=16 >< b >General< /b >< /fontsize >< /color > Ignore the spaces, these forums don't like HTML. It can be annoying to do, the window you're typing the name into is tiny. Here's some hex colors. If you aren't familiar with HTML, the 0x symbolizes "the following numbers are in hexadecimal", and you then input a number from that list's Hex column, without the #.
If I understood a word of what you have been kind enough to post, I would use it.

So after most players apparently cover 75% of their View with Text-WIndows to get all the necessary Information's to play the Game properly who in the UI Department gets the proper spanking?
On a side-note, we got like 3 Engine Overhauls and rewrites not the mention all the cool and new effects and no one sees them. ------------------------------> While encountered together in captivity, in the wild, the stapler and the staple remover are natural enemies. ------------------------------> |

Shift click the cargo space open, that way you wont have the useless first third of that window. You can also change it to simply list the items, that way more items can fit the same amount of space. |

You need to open it separately each time you swap ships, but the window will open in the exact same location. |

Drones would be controlled like a gun, press button drones go out, right click on button and change active "flight of drones" like loading ammo. Would be awesome when used in conjunction current drone keyboard hotkeys. Let me guess you never used a carrier right? That would make controlling the drone groups near to impossible.
I think there is something to this.
You could drag and group the drone into flights much as you would group them in the drone window.
Click to attack, the icon glows green (and launches if not deployed), click to return and orbit icon glows white, click/press and hold for 2-3 seconds to return to bay, icon turns red until they are returned to bay. Icon glows yellow when they are targeted or damaged. Mouseover to see a tooltip showing the drone shield/armor/struct like little targeting windows, along with things like max control range. Right click brings up a context window that allows you to enable/disable "passive/aggressive", and "focus fire" or give a specific drone a specific command like attack, orbit, or return and orbit. You can also ungroup a specific drone via context menus as well or abandon a drone. Clicking a different drone or set would recall any active drones and deploy the new set. And you can setup groups however you wish.
And I'm not sure on the details, but right click could let you assign fighters to another fleet member, and maybe turn the icon blue. as an indicator. Its all just moving the context menu and changing the display a bit. Though, I do admit I know nothing about carriers and what may be special in that regard. However, the carrier use case is a bit niche to hold back a much better design for regular drone control.
I don't know if that covers all the use cases, but I'm sure it would work. |

Seriously, what would help is an option to move the cap/module rack somewhere besides 2 static rails, I'd like to be able to drag and drop in anywhere, which would drastically help with improving how our UI's are setup. I'm not a fan of how it is now.
Also, the XML editing is awesome, I set mine up to have the targeting information changed like this : http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/1421/shiplabels.jpg
But would much rather have good information such as what we get in the overview listed there, such as velocity and angular velocity. I hate darting my eyes 5 inches to the right if I'm looking at his relative position in space to check if he's going faster or if I'm keeping up angular. |

1. I would like to be able to disable that da*ned filter in the inventory screen, or at least be able to lock it closed. Likewise the search box next to the cargo hold capacity. If they were used all the time, fine, but as seldom as I use them they are merely distracting and an annoyance.
2. Also, there is a keyboard shortcut to recall drones, but none to launch them. What's up with that?
3. Why can't the movement keys be used to control ship flight direction? Not necessary most of the time, but would be very handy to have at others, i.e. on missions when you get inside/need to get inside a structure; in asteroid belts when the ship gets hung on an asteroid. You can already double-click in space for manual movement. Keys would be less precise, and I'm not actually sure how they'd work, given that you need to move in 3D, and the EVE movement system seems to be all about moving relative to other things, or to specific points *e* as opposed to the kind of system keys would need.
