Yeah that is exactly what I said. Stop paying for eve online, cancel your monthly subscription, give the reason that you are "fed up with botting" and until it is fixed you have no interest in wasting money on a game which punishes those who pay and rewards those who steal.
No amount of petitions OR forum posts will get the message across unless more accounts are discontinued.

So, I don't disagree that this is arguably the only true way to get CCP to pay attention, there are many of us that don't see botters (as far as we know) and, on a conscious level, are unaware of the effects they have.
Trying to convince my high-sec only corp that they need to cancel their accounts because, apparently, there are bots infesting null-sec and ruining the economy is going to be an uphill battle.

Especially since they're not exactly ruining the economy either. At most, they nudge the equilibrium in favour of the consumer and/or the industrialist rather than the resource/item gatherer. That doesn't really qualify as "ruining the economy" in my book, but miners and ratters are somewhat negatively affected, so they should be the ones to complain to some degree. _

Botters are being dealt with.
Mission mixes are being changed to interfere with them, storylines have been nerfed, anything to screw with their routine.
This, of course, also jerks around all mission-runners, but hey, what the hell, in order to wreck mission botting we have to destroy missioning for everyone....
So, do plexes, find an incursion, or do PI (wooo! wooo!). Plenty of fun for everyone!

A) Plex is bought with Real Money, no make believe or monopoly money accepted for it.
B) Plex costs MORE than any subscription method you could use to pay for a month of game time.

Why should I change my habits and gaming because of some asshats who RMT/Bot? Every MMO I've played was plagued with that. Unless you want CCP to force us to run *shudder* "GameGuard" than I wouldn't worry your self too much over it. |

Years ago, before Eve was a perpetual arena battle, when you lost a ship your wallet felt it. When you lost enough ships, your corp & alliance felt it. Eventually, you had to stop fighting, run away, and rebuild. We called that warfare. Wars were ended not in wicked treachery, but in glorious victory. Today, you can either crush your enemy in a single battle with your superior blob, or get your spies to disband their alliance, but wars are no longer won over the course of many battles by bleeding them through attrition.

Actually, since you sound skeptical that it could happen, FFXI is now 99% bot free if not even more than than. Although bots are pretty much dead there is still some RMT from the non-botting sweatshops but still, it's so close to dead it may as well be dead.
While FFXI won't be winning any awards for greatest game ever or anything, I've never seen a more successful anti-RMT campaign in an MMO.
For those curious as to how, they created a program called RMT Pwnerer 1.337 that tracks any and all money supply chains and bans (or at leasts sends the character to GM jail) the bank mules, traders, buyers, and bots in the suply chain with only a few innocent people caught in the mix near the beginning (never heard of a single case of that not being fixed)
In addition they also did something fairly evil by actually going for psychological warfare. Instead of banning everything ASAP, since this is a traditional levelling and skill-up based MMO, any account determined to be a bot/RMT but still levelling or skilling or whatever would only be flagged for banning and then not banned until the last possible second before they could partake in the RMT method du jour (be it fishing or mining or questing etc), thus wasting the RMT's time, getting more subscription from the RMT, and just plain ****ing him off more.

RMT doesn't create isk or materials, it only sells stuff that's already in game for RL cash. Even Plex doesn't create isk. One player pays cash for the plex, while another player grinds for the isk, and then they trade.

Make mining into an arcade game. That way as long as you are in game then the rocks flow.
It also means the cargo can carry unlimited rocks because you cannot have interrupted games in between mining and playing.
That'll fix botting. --------- Sent from my BlackBerry.

So... you're basically quitting EVE. Because the likelihood of everyone joining your protest-by-departure is pretty slim.
Ooooh... I see. So we've all gotta start paying with PLEX now. I spoke out of turn.
Regardless, there are flaws in your plan, but I am not rhetorically gifted enough or educated well enough in the bot problem to say.

The only way to get rid of botting is to create dynamic content that requires player interaction that macro's cannot duplicate or repeat. It's also a good opportunity to make boring things like mining fun.

Propably not, but without a heard of farmbots at your disposal, you won't have disposable fleets of supercaps either.

Someone paid CCP real money for that PLEX, once it is in game they could care less about it, they have their cash. If you are going to quit you are going to have to really quit, and we all know eve is awesome enough that you won't do THAT ;) even if to simply maintain access to this wonderful forum community --------------------------------------------

Show us on the doll where the bot touched you.
Does anyone even have any proof that bots are killing the gameplay in eve? How is injecting the market with cash a bad thing?
If I where a botter, and generating mass income, I would be less likely to freak out over losing a BS in pvp, simply because I could by a new one.
Result? more isk going from my wallet to the carebears wallet that built the battleship. so what if the price drops 10 mill. If I'm being bold with my isk and losing alot, the sales are going to double. Look at Plex prices. A few years ago a plex was 200 mill. Now they are 350 mill each. Why did that price go up? Botters are buying plex (supposidly). So if I wanted an injection of isk, I'd go buy a plex, sell it at an inflated price to a botter, and instead of haveing 200 mill I now have 350 mill
So many people are angry over this, but honestly where's the proof?

Nobody denies that there are botters in-game but they aren't harming the game like the hysterical "antibotters" want you to believe. Most of them either don't understand how the bots themselves work or don't understand economics well enough to gauge the real impact they have on the game.
