This is the second track I post here at MyEve, with about a half a year to learn stuff since.

Thank you! I've been totally isolated from people with interest in this type of music. Really means a lot hearing that!

Edited by: Jae Car''das on 11/03/2011 16:58:24 Not entirely my sort of thing (more into darker dub step and drum and bass) but if I was in the right mood I would really get into it. For the genre it is, it is very good, really well produced too, good quality, lovely bass line. Nice one -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nice ambience, liked it, although as a commenter above said, the mood could be a bit darker, in particular in the second half. First part could have been something out of EVE though. --

I've been trying (off and on) to make music for ages and know how hard it is, this is a pretty slick production and kinda reminded me of the box era Orbital. Keep em coming!
What did you use to make this? ---

Thanks a lot man!
I've used FL studio with the signature bunldle and a bunch of VST like for example Waldorf Largo Analog Synth.
Only hardware I use is a set of Sennheiser headphones (got neighbours)a MIDI keyboard, two big LED screens and a stationary PC with an overclocked i5 750 processor (can't dent I'm a geek, had to include the fact)
I will upgrade with an external sound card and some good speakers as soon as I have the means to actually use them :)
I know it is hard, the learning curve is many times steeper than even EVE online, but I've believed and still do that you should just NEVER give up and waste your life trying if that's what it takes to become as good as the elite few who make it ;D
You play EVE man, you got patience so just keep at it! Look around the internet/youtube for tutorials on techniques and don't be afraid to fail, I've scrapped 10 more or less finished tracks before getting to this one! You'll be able to make stuff like this in half a year if you do, I swear.

Thanks for all the kind words!
I've used a lot of analog sounds, as for samples the kick is originally taken from the Deadmau5 Xfer pack, as is one of the snares.
I've spent a lot of time downloading stuff on various music forums like for example the clap and second snare, but I use a lot of compression (Maximus) and reverb to make a unique sound and to get the power it needs to shine through the mix.
Bass is all analog as well, with two VST synths working together (Waldorf Largo going sin and Sawer on the higher bass tones) placed on separate mixer slots, compressed with maximus and then pulled through a send at about 90% to leave some of the original tone when later applied side chain effects take over.
Ride bell is taken from FPC in FL studio, tone adjusted, placed on the same mixer slot as other high percussion sounds.
Reverse "build-up" effects I've made myself in a separate project with the help of a lot of reverb, hi and low pass filters and original samples (vocals and cymbals).
Strings and brass had to be ordered rough and unprocessed from a professional studio, my father's in this case, where they've been made using NI's session strings and kontakt brass, there is nothing to make them sound as real with any other VST I know of.
Also can't forget to mention I've had to go through lots of fine tuning, careful mastering and caffeine.

Now thats what I'm talking about
Amazing stuff, I've been using FL studio for about 6 years my self. Although its been a while since I've done anything, this inspired me to download it again and try to get Massive working. ----------

Do you have this available for download, as an MP3, OGG, FLAC, or such? I noticed in your duplicate thread in the off-topic forum that the question was asked, but didn't see any links posted aside from the stream.
