The voting system was specifically designed to leave no record of what user voted (only that the user has voted), even though it leads to being unable to fulfill requests like this one.
Linkage
Does that mean that Kalrand's candidacy was just a plot to siphon votes away from everyone except The Mittani?

Whatever "plot" it was - it's disappointing. I learned to respect Kalrand, despite him being a Goon, and also "wasted" my vote on him.
I'd like to hear from himself what the reason was that led to his decision. It could be a case of RL > EVE, for example. Or it could be a typical Goon stunt, as you stated. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

I don't believe so. He seemed like he was struggling with the decision from the beginning. I think it was more a case of not thinking through before submitting. Thankfully, I procrastinated and before I got around to voting for him I noticed his absence. - I don't want the world, I just want your half. |

I'd second this, and it wouldn't surprise me if things internal to the alliance came to play (he would have been taking votes away from the two goon candidates and it wouldn't surprise me if that ****ed them off somewhat)
No doubt he will come on and tell us the reasoning behind it.

No.
I'm not sure what exactly the rules are wrt talking about conversations with CCP employees in the forum, so I've been silent on the issue.
I got into a disagreement with a CCP employee regarding their actions with respect to the CSM election. I didn't feel it was being handled fairly, and withdrew from the race when a higher level employee back his action.

Thanks for this, it has cleared up a lot of rumours :-)
A little peeved that I lost my vote in that it will no longer count, but also happy in your judgement that you acted on something you saw as unfair and took a principled stand.

Think you could share the details?

Typical goon behavour. When things dont go their way they act selfish. I guess you haven't think of people that put trust in you, haven't you? Oh btw since that "disagreement" with CCP, which it was so big you withdrew from the race, can I have your stuff? I mean after all this I guess you'll be quit playing as well.

that sounds like a pretty common human behavior. Maybe he HAS thought about it, but was waiting for the CSM elections to be over to explain it?

The only reason I'm responding at all is I felt the conversation was about to take the "ZOMG! MITTANI PLOT!" turn for the stupid.

damn, I was just about to write up a theory that took your statements into account and came down to "ZOMG! MITTANI PLOT!"

As someone who was wanting to represent the players and act on the CSM in the players interests don't you think it would be doing them a disservice by not speaking up about what you felt was a strong enough issue to force you off the CSM candidacy list? Or do you only care what people think if it got you a free flight to iceland? ;)

I'll make a post next year with my criticisms if I feel that it will help the CSM 7 election be handled better. Saying anything now will invariable be lost in the noise surrounding the ongoing campaigning.

Was the decision related to that stickied thread in Jita Park? In any case, I'm very disappointed and can't shake off the suspicion that your aborted candidacy will have done the Mittani quite a lot of good by draining a good number of MD votes away from the candidates who would have most likely been his main competition for the Chair. Obviously this is tinfoil hattery but I would feel a lot better if I had some idea of what CCP did to cause you to junk my votes and disenfranchise me .

Fair answer. But with all due respect your decision was chidlish. No matter what happened with CCP you should stick with your supporters no matter what. They voted for you because of your program, because of what you stand for and h*ll they voted for you who you are. If there is any problem or different opinion about CSM (regarding to CCP) you could change that as member of CSM, or trying to. You can change things from inside and not outside. But yet you missed that.

Withdrawing from an election to protest it's legitimacy is the fairly standard response, actually.

That's how I feel on the issue. Unfortunately while politicking for the election was still going on, it was the only action I could take to give my argument any legitimacy. Without doing that I'm either "still campaigning", "a sore loser", "trying to manipulate results" or other similar attacks on my motivation. I have nothing to gain at this point, so in a way, it frees me to seek change with the issue I'm taking point with.
I sent something in to CCP's Internal Affairs today. I'll be basing anything I do in the future with how this is handled.
I know that this sounds quite cryptic, but it's a relatively boring, though legitimate, issue that could only be address properly this way.
