Hey guys, I've decided that it's finally time to start training for a carrier.
What skills am I going to need to fly one? what I mean is, what skills am I going to need to fit one? Obviously I can just click 'requirements' tab and see the skills I'll need to fly...but what will I need to train that will make me good at flying it.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to train for an Amarr carrier, I know the Gallente (thanatos i think) is very popular, but I really can't see any major difference between the two.
I'm new to cap ships, so pleae, dont hold any detail back :)

1. For carrier, not Supercarrier. Gallent carrier more drone space, and give more dps. 2.You need basicly all of the Navagation skills to L5 except for the afterburner skills. 3. You needed to train for fighter skill for making dps. 4. You need to train Captial remote repair/ Capital shield transfer (think thats what it call), Captial repair. 5. You need to train for Rig 2 6. IMPORTANT, CAPTIAL SHIELD BOOST, OR CAPITAL ARMOR REPAIR depends on what kind your using. 7. You need to learn to use Triage moduel which takes quit long time. 8. You might as well start with your navagation skill.

Edited by: Khanid Voltar on 18/03/2011 08:56:41 In a nutshell:
Fighters IV (requires Adv Drone Int to 5) Capital Remote Energy/Armor/Shield to 4 (requires non cap skill to 5) Jump Drive Operation V (requires WDO and Nav to 5 iirc) Jump Drive Calibration and Jump Fuel Conservation to 4 Capital Armor Repair Systems IV (forget what is required) Racial Carrier to IV (requires racial BS V and Adv. Spaceship Command to 5)
I dont believe it is as imperative to max out all support skills as it used to be in order to fly a carrier. With SC's and Titan deathrays if you are primaried there is every chance you will go down, unless you fly with R&K or someone truly elite at utlising carriers to their best advantage..
That said it will still take a long time to get into unless your skills are somewhat close already.

Correction: Fighters requires Drone Int 5. Advanced Drone Int is only really needed for drone control units (which I still haven't bothered training even 2 and a half years after first getting a carrier lol) ---------- Who, me? |
