I know it's been mentioned in the past, but you guys really should consider selling billboard space.
Make the billboards at the gates a wee bit bigger and make the ads region/constellation based. So any ad you buy only gets displayed in the region or constellation you purchased for. Allow people to put a url to a post on the EVE forums in them or EVE gate and when you click the billboard it opens the IGB to the appropriate url. I would keep it limited to only allowing links to EVE Gate or the EVE forums so you don't get a bunch of garbage. Might cut down on the number of cans anchored for advertising around gates too.
I would limit the availability to standings. Make it so you have to have a corp or personal standing of at least 5 with the owners of the space to put a billboard ad up in a region. I would make it rather expensive too, maybe 100 or 200 million, would be a decent isk sink and the ad only runs a week.
Would have to keep the word limit relatively small, might have to review the ads before they go up too. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Edited by: Gavjack Bunk on 18/03/2011 11:34:35 Dude... shush.
You wanna see adverts for Pepsi, Apple and American Airlines on there? No you don't. And neither do I. Because we all know that if CCP turn their gaze to something, the first thought in their heads is to completely *******s it up in a cash grab frenzy.
EDIT: Hmmmm... Old Spice adverts though.... mmmmaaaybe....

As you have said it has been suggested before.
#the Problem is that the code in legacy and it needs to be completely rewritten, as a result its not a priority for CCP.
As for seeing adds for Pepsi etc, I believe the idea is to allow corps to advertise on bill boards instead of using cans need gates.
Also CCP have already considered adding in game advertising for real world items and they reject it as it would break immersion in the game. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

Everything is written in wax. Any amount of heat or pressure and it will change. Immersion in my Eve? No. None.

Actually, to keep it simple for starters should just link to EVE Gate stuff, what is displayed is either a corp or alliance info...that would make it pretty simple and easier to deal with, clicking on it like reading the news would bring up the EVE Gate junk for them in the IGB. Good way to push EVE Gate out there too.
Strip all ascii art out, anything that isn't a latin character gets yanked before the text goes up on the billboard, help to keep some garbage out of there like giant *****es. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

I had heard this (hence the reason I say it was legacy code and needs rewriting), but could never find the source of the statement. I don't suppose that you have it to hand ? CONCORD billboards are not for advertising. They're for enforcing the peace (billboards do ~19dps on top of the 176dps each sentry gun does) and showing the criminals with high bounties. Maybe the empires can set up their own billboards too to rent advertising space but the CONCORD ones aren't for sale. ________

quafe also uses dead people as a key ingredient of their drinks. and i doubt you could afford to pay the kinda bribes quafe comes up with.
still, point of a billboard is to be a weapon to shoot at criminals, the advertising is just a tertiary role ________
