I'm going to be flying a Rupture for missions soon but I'm not sure what shield rigs I should put into it. I've heard people say both work well, but I'm not sure what I should be using - high shield capacity or faster recharge?
The rupture has a base shield of just over 1500. So with a 45% bonus from 3 rigs that becomes 2175 before skills and modules are taken into account. That doesn't seem like a big boost to me. Or does that 45% apply after ship mods and skills? I.e. I'm fitting a large shield extender and with my current skills the ship has something like 4400 shields without the rigs - does that mean I'll have around 6300 shields (applying the 45% bonus after everything else) or 5075 shields (applying just to the base shield amount)?

In general, purger for pve, extender for pvp.

OK, but what about my question on where the rig bonus is calculated?

This is the correct order:
skills -> modules -> rigs

I'm pretty sure this is both wrong and entirely irrelevant in this case.
Multiplicative bonuses (like in this case) are just all multiplied together so:
(Base value)*(skill bonus)*(module bonus)*(rig bonus) is identical to
(Base value)*(module bonus)*(rig bonus)*(skill bonus)
It becomes relevant when you are using shield extender modules which add a base amount of shields to the calculation as opposed to providing a modifier but I believe (and I could be wrong) that for things like shields and capacitor (with capacitor batteries)
In this case it really looks like this:
(Base value + additive bonuses)*(multiplicative bonuses)
Thus it doesn't matter what the *source* of your bonus is. (so a 5% implant is identical to a 5% module which is identical to a 5% ship ability which is identical to a 5% rig etc...)

What level of mission do you plan on doing with the Rupture?

If your doing a passive shield tank remember that the shield power relays in your lows lower total capacity as a tradeoff.
Though its lack of mids doesn't help either not sure how good that shield tank would be compared to ships with more mids like the caracal. Im guessing your doing LSE, Shield Recharger, AB in your mids and a couple SPRs in your lows. Since if you were going to active tank you would go armor anyway since the ruppies slot layout favors armor tanking.
