"If the moon looks a little bit bigger and brighter this weekend, there's a reason for that. It is.
Saturday's full moon will be a super "perigee moon" -- the biggest in almost 20 years. This celestial event is far rarer than the famed blue moon, which happens once about every two-and-a-half years."

So that's why I haven't been able to sleep properly for a week
(Whenever that happens it seems to be the full moon thingy again. I suppose I should paint my bedroom walls in a dark color to stop some light from bouncing around.)

Lol, yes... Mercury, Venus, Earth... so it should be the 3rd planet, unless my memory fails again.

Meh, its not looking any larger tonight.
On the flip side, it did make an impressive appearance at dusk, coming out of the horizon. I've seen it before at that time, the size difference was much more noticeable then.

Interesting, I had no clue about this until right now. However, last night I had a dream about the moon being GIGANTIC on the horizon. Of course, this was because I was recognizing the horizon effect in my dream. But hey, a man can dream that he has psychic super powers, right? ----------

Obviously, the sky is falling. We must respond with the appropriate degree of panic.

Unless you have a picture of the moon from 18 years ago to compare against, you won't be able to tell the moon is any bigger. It's hilarious how many people lack a basic education and think that somehow magically the moon jumped a few thousand miles closer for just one day. HI! |

Of course it didn't. But the combination of near perfect moon perigee and full moon is quite rare.
Somehow I doubt that the boffins at NASA lack a basic education...
I actually heard some people remark today how bright they thought the moon was over the weekend, so even though they did not look for it, they still noticed the exceptionally bright moonlight...
