Anyhow, congrats.
No. We won't. Well...at least I will not be in attendance. The logistics of the last one threw a wrench in my "flow" which I will not repeat anytime soon. I came out to honor a new CVA Executor, and that honor still stands even if the Executor had changed yet again.
I mean no disrespect, but I have seen such grand usurpations many times in the past: an old leader see's his old group make news or make a significant change. Nostalgia sinks in. He returns from a long abscence(whether the abscence is time or location-based, it doesn't matter), to restore HIS vision to HIS organization as it existed in HIS past. However, he find times have changed. Upon his return, faces have changed...or changed sides. The arena has changed, and he finds little in common with those currently under his command. He longs for those pilots long-gone, and times long-past. The re-assumed mantle weighs too heavily without the old comforts of his previous life. The time between communications then grows longer and longer, until the leader departs again, often leaving his group in worse shape than before he had returned.
If you can avoid this pattern, you will be in a minority. So I ask you: Do you do this for what CVA is and what it can become under the current situation? Or do you do this based on what CVA was or what you think it could be?
Shall I list the litany of long-standing alliances that have crumbled under the curent state of affairs? How is CVA different from them?
I do not like bringing such harsh words to bear upon one who is trying to do what I dearly wish for, but you must realize my words, though harsh, are true.
In fact, I hope by speaking them aloud, you will avoid the reality of my words even if only for the sake of spite towards me.
If you are still there in 3 months, and making progress, and doing what you say, I will publicly apologize for my harsh words and make amends.
However, if you are not there in three months time, fear not, for you join a long history of nostalgic leaders who simply had more good intentions than energy to see them through...
Fly safe. I will be watching.
