CVA Announcement
The last year has not been a kind one to the Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA). The alliance has lost its grip on Holy Amarrian Providence, lost many friends and allies and been forced to fall back to low-security border systems. More worryingly it looks like there is little immediate prospect of regaining a foothold and re-establishing civilisation in Providence which is currently under the control of murderous barbarians.
I am sad to say that the alliance has also suffered internal disorder in the wake of the decision by Lord Aralis to stand down. This, unfortunately, has prompted several corporations to leave the alliance...
To be completely frank morale in CVA probably could not get any lower than it is at the moment. Indeed if it got any lower CVA would probably cease to exist.
Which is where I come in. Over the past 18 months I have been involved in affairs of my own and have watched the troubles of this great alliance from a distance. That distance no longer exists.
I am hereby notifying the galaxy that I am now the Executor of the CVA.
This may come as surprise to many of you, after all Leo d'Green had only recently taken over, and to be honest it took me by surprise too. The duties and responsibilities of running an alliance, particularly an alliance experiencing tough times is not a light one - and that responsibility has now passed onto my shoulders.
Almost seven years ago I made this announcement to the galaxy. While the specifics may have changed, the long term term goals of this alliance secure low-sec Domain fro safe trade and to extend Amarrian order to lawless Providence has not.
When we first set out on the journey to civilise Providence we had no idea how successful we would become, indeed our plans were based more on hope and faith, than on any realistic idea that we would achieve very much - at least in the short term.
However the CVA, along with likeminded individuals, corporations and alliances, succeeded - overcoming both piratical barbarians and Minmatar terrorists - in the process turning Providence into the most developed, prosperous and populated null sec region in the galaxy.
Now we are starting all over again. Once again the obstacles that we face are huge - some would even say insurmountable - but we are not daunted. We have done it once and we will do it again. Those that remain in the CVA are committed to this goal.
While Providence will remain the focus of our attention I would also like to address a couple of other matters.
- Over the past few years many of our connections with comrades in Amarr loyalist organisations and the Amarr militia have not been as good as they should. This is something I shall seek to address and certainly I will be encouraging more active involvement with these organisations within the CVA
- We will also be looking to work with and assist other organisations dedicated to building order in 0.0, provided those organisations do not have an anti-Amarrian agenda and are genuine in wishing to open up null-sec to all law-abiding pod pilots. As such you may see CVA involved in operations away from Providence - although these excursions will be limited in scope and duration.
Finally, I would just like to state that my appointment is not intended to be a long term one. My time remains restricted by other duties and running an alliance such as CVA requires a lot of dedication. As such discussions within the CVA regarding potential successors have already started.
It is possible that I will still be in charge six months from now, but it is also possible that the leadership of the alliance may have passed to someone more dedicated and capable than I within a few weeks. While this does add some short term uncertainty it is to ensure that the alliance starts moving forward and that the best long term option for leadership is achieved.

I wish you best continuation in your endeavors.
CVA may have handled a stepping blow over the last year, but what has been accomplished has marked the whole cluster and the spark brought by CVA will remain in our memories for the future to come.

Edited by: Hardin on 21/03/2011 23:27:53 I appreciate the kind words from those who have replied here and have already spoken to a few of you.
As you can probably understand I have only just taken over CVA and as such my initial priority is to focus on the stability and success of that alliance. As my time is limited I apologise in advance if I am not immediately responsive to external initiatives - at least in the short run.
But I do want to reiterate that over the longer term I do see the enhancement of relations with Amarrian and NRDS organisations as a key priority for the CVA.

Then yet there is hope for this... beleagured alliance.
I maintain a personal grievance with one of your own, but that is just that - a personal one.
As such I wish the best for the CVA and her compatriots in their endeavour, may your prosperity flourish and blades stay sharp.

It would be to much to ask me to leave the Bleak lands twice in the same month.
If we must do it again I vote for CVA to come to us, may even have a aftershow event this time.

No. We won't. Well...at least I will not be in attendance. The logistics of the last one threw a wrench in my "flow" which I will not repeat anytime soon. I came out to honor a new CVA Executor, and that honor still stands even if the Executor had changed yet again.
I mean no disrespect, but I have seen such grand usurpations many times in the past: an old leader see's his old group make news or make a significant change. Nostalgia sinks in. He returns from a long abscence(whether the abscence is time or location-based, it doesn't matter), to restore HIS vision to HIS organization as it existed in HIS past. However, he find times have changed. Upon his return, faces have changed...or changed sides. The arena has changed, and he finds little in common with those currently under his command. He longs for those pilots long-gone, and times long-past. The re-assumed mantle weighs too heavily without the old comforts of his previous life. The time between communications then grows longer and longer, until the leader departs again, often leaving his group in worse shape than before he had returned.
If you can avoid this pattern, you will be in a minority. So I ask you: Do you do this for what CVA is and what it can become under the current situation? Or do you do this based on what CVA was or what you think it could be?
Shall I list the litany of long-standing alliances that have crumbled under the curent state of affairs? How is CVA different from them?
I do not like bringing such harsh words to bear upon one who is trying to do what I dearly wish for, but you must realize my words, though harsh, are true.
In fact, I hope by speaking them aloud, you will avoid the reality of my words even if only for the sake of spite towards me.
If you are still there in 3 months, and making progress, and doing what you say, I will publicly apologize for my harsh words and make amends.
However, if you are not there in three months time, fear not, for you join a long history of nostalgic leaders who simply had more good intentions than energy to see them through...
Fly safe. I will be watching.

Knowing Lord Hardin, he will not take offense at your words. He has a history of being a servant of God and Defender of the truth. No matter how it is said, wether harsh or gently, truth is truth.
But I can at least say this, internally, the CVA has reacted only positively and enthusiastically regarding this change. Lord Hardin is not a man to rest on his laurels, and has appropriately set expectations as to what he can and can not do.
And lastly Lord Vaarun, you ask how the CVA is different from the litany of Alliances who have fallen by the way side? The CVA is a god-fearing organization, where the others have been run by non-believers.
I will not say that the CVA will prosper and return to it's former glory. But with Lord Hardin at the helm, I have excellent reason to believe so.
Yours Resepctfully, Curator Dex

Quite simply Paladin Farel, one who is god-fearing is: One who follows the precepts of the Amarr faith, and respects and reveres God and His authority.
'Fear', when talking about God, is synonymous with 'respect', 'reverence', 'piety', 'awe towards the Divine', etc.
I hope this brings you understanding.

I hope you can turn CVA around and again see success in Providence. I remember many of the operations to place the station eggs there (while in ISSN) and despite having stronger ties with the UK of old I can't help but feel your goal to civilize Providence was closer to what ISS originally intended.
