Are you using windows 7?
There is a bug that comes up sometimes. If you type te555 it will do exactly as you've described. So if you accidentally put a space when typing your character name. Like this na te555, it would black screen on you.

chkdsk good... Can get to boot disk Won't boot windows...
I could give you the Mac users answer: "Windows, there's your problem"
Or I could give you the IT professionals answer: "Have you turned it off and on again?"
Or the slightly more realistic answer: "You disabled your anti-virus to get to those websites with the talkative ladies again, didn't you"
There is no such thing as a fair fight...
If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage. |

Press f8 during bootup, and boot to a previous version or safemode. If that doesn't work, you have a hardware failure somewhere or a critical virus infestation. |

Get yourself Ubuntu on a memory stick, launch from that, backup all your files to an external HDD and re-install windows. Works every time, so long as your HDD isn't 100% borked. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming. |

In the old days, a black screen with a blinking cursor meant you had left a floppy disk in the drive. Check for any and all drives and USB ports to make sure nothing is plugged in. If I tried to make a type of coffee that made all of you happy, and you rated it, the group score for it would be about 60 out of 100. Break into 3 or 4 coffee clusters, and made coffee just for each cluster, the scores would go from 60 to 78. The difference between coffee at 60 and coffee at 78 is a difference between coffee that makes you wince or makes you happy. |

Try this: reboot the computer and spam the F8 key. You should eventually get the option to select how you want to boot windows (repair mode, safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, etc..) Try the repair mode and/or the restore to previous good checkpoint.
Also, to quote an old buddy: Never get emotionally attached to your data.

Nobody *really* needs an antivirus, unless he's just a generic DAU.
I'm not using antivirus software for YEARS, i scan my machine ONCE a year with no issues. I caught a virus ONCE and i noticed it myself because my system wasn't running as usual. Hilariously, i cought it from the microsoft website (seriously lol) and i removed it MANUALLY.
That said, i'd never advise anybody else to not use one ... for a good reason. Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

Really hope this is a troll...
Spy bot is for SPY ware Anti virus is for a VIRUS...
I don't mow my lawn with a snow blower...
And seeing as you could not google this, or fix it on your own, I really do not think you should be running no AV.
O ya mac users answer is a retards answer, let's look at all the malware macs have been getting lawl... you are worse off with a "mac" than a "pc" right now lol.
O and the "old buddy" comment here... that old buddy was a ******. The answer is always back up.
bios issue makes little sense unless you changed something or the board is going bad. The bios should not randomly change and cause a lock up (cause um, the bios is just to get the computer going... basic input output system...) so the correct thing to assume would be the mobo is dying then... however with the limited testing I seen anyone talk about here I would conclude nothing. |
