Yea, see title. I'm curious if they did show this on fanfest somewhere? I know its not such a big thing but i love multimonitor setups.

I don't have 6 monitors, but I spread my EVE across 2 easily (1 1/2 actually) and move the controls ect where I want them now. I believe it works the same for as many monitors as you would realistically want to run.

They wouldn't really need to show it of as such, EVE supports EYEfinity resolutions out-of-the-box, so any setup using that will work. All you'd need is either an ATI EYEfinity supporting card, or Crossfire with 2 cards supporting 3 each.
nVidia can do the same, with Surround 3D setups, although that requires an SLI configuration to go over 2 screens (as nVidia cards do not have enough video outputs).
Given that nVidia was rather obviously throwing money around to get name-dropped this fanfest, showing off a feature that their biggest competitor developed might not be the best PR move.

THis, I remember during the fanfest when they first demo'd the multi monitor support, they did say that ATI cards do this totally out of the box.

Point being, however you setup your hardware to get multiple monitors running EVE will work with it now. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

What are you talking about? Nvidia works fine out the box with one card over 2 monitors. My card has one DVI and one hdmi output, stick in the adapter from hdmi to DVI and 2x1080i screens work just fine with eve in multi display mode, with no sli.

Yes so not MORE than 2 monitors, maybe you can find an nvidea with 3 outputs, but Ati goes up to 6.

So it's a standalone graphics card on a graphics card?
I have an nvidia 450 with three dvi (2xdvi and one hdmi) outputs, so two of them in the dual x16pcie slots and that's 6 monitors, though i will never do it.

Which was very useful until Ati ruined their day by releasing cards with 6 outputs.

I remember them showing it off at the last fanfest, but I took the 'next year we'll show it on 6' line as a joke.

LCD Company I use to work for needed 6 monitors off a notebook ( dual DVI output, and the thing chugged :S ).
Oh the fun we had when we got 6 of these and plugged them into 30" displays we had around the office :) I believe they had a movie night in the warehouse that night :) Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Nvidia doesnt have anything like Eyefinity (unless you go for Quadro). They support maximum of 2 monitors on one adapter (single GPU or virtual via SLI) Since CCP took NVIDIAs brib^^^marketing cash you can forget about official 6 monitor support.

Fanfests made promises all the time.
Remember Walking in Stations was going to come out with Trinity? Remember Condor's flying in a planet's atmosphere? ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

One could come to this assumption
Nah, i really just hoped they would have shown something fancy on fanfest for the nerds like me who like this stuff, maybe in the lobby or something (not seen on EVETV).

Why would you play EVE on 6 monitors? I played on 2 and the split between both was annoying anyway. I imagine someone that plays a game on six monitors is probably trying real hard to impress their friends... or lack thereof. And if you're reading this, you've fallen into a signature trap. You owe me 1m ISK. |

The OP was curious and even said he understands it's not a big deal. Why do you have to diss him like that? Calm down.

Maybe I should just get the gtx 460?
That is not gonna happen.
We will be very luck to get This with Playstation 2-like graphics.

Your ignorance is a tad amazing. You do realize you can get custom built bezelless monitors? And there's nothing wrong with wanting a sick sick setup like that for yourself... though probably gonna have to take the wife on a trip to make it happen doubling the setup cost =p

Well, i'm playing on 3 monitors right now (depending on what i do, 3 clients at the same time or 1 client spread over 3 monitors), and i tell you, EVE looks great on 3 already, its a huge difference when your peripheral view is involved.
So yea, with the ui-offset feature you could circumvent the line in the middle on 6 monitors, so why not? Its not that expensive even if you have a job.
And it just looks amazing.

If price is no issue, the GTX 590 now supports three monitors out of the box. Two of those running in SLI would work. If your budget conscious, ATI can do it cheaper. I have 3 x 25" monitors and two GTX 580's running in SLI. I believe you could go also go with three older nVidia cards running in Tri-SLI and do it.

Edited by: Aessoroz on 27/03/2011 18:45:33 Edited by: Aessoroz on 27/03/2011 18:44:32 ati eyefinity, enough said, nvidia is inferior crap trying to catch up because they are too busy overpricing their video cards and marketing bs. ATI supports up to 6 monitors natively in the eyefinity videocards that can be arranged with 3 on top of 3 monitors. You don't even need more than one video card to do it, a single ATI gpu can run all 6 like a boss. nvidia can really go shove it with all the bs they are pushing on eve.
