Anyone play this? is it any good?
I am getting bored of eve for the fact I like to do solo pvp and play 1 hour or so a night and I am sick of spending most of it running from blobs of KM hungry ***s and eventually getting a kill, then logging.....
So yeah, worth the time to start playing this?

Yes.
It's free to play as well, so it's absolutly worth trying.

If you are after satisfying pew pew action then wot is a few orders of magnitude better than bp. But if you want a basic storyline to go with your space based action then bp might be worth a look if you just have to play with spaceships.

I do much prefer the spaceship genre, future/modern based mmo are best. I really dislike fantasy based MMO's like WoW and Aion.
I downloaded it while I was sleeping last night so I will give it a whirl and leave my thoughts here

For once I agree with Verone... I put a lot of time into the closed beta and despite giving it every opportunity (and hoping that it could compete with EVE), It simply proved to be utter gash.

Spent the first 2-3 hours on this, watching cutscenes...flying around doing boring ****.
No tutorials on how to fit ships and what stuff means BUT IT TEACHES YOU HOW TO GIVE YOUR SHIP A PAINTJOB.
Graphics are pretty nice tho.
It rubber bands constantly.
Also its v v v v v fkin annoying dialogue as you shoot the NPC's and they send you voice transmissions of them screaming and that there shield is down. (Dont see the US army talking to talabin via handsfree bluetooth)
The leveling system imo sucks pretty bad as well. Story makes sense to a degree what leaves so many unanswered questions, imo.

It rubberbands quite a bit and the scale is puny. If they want to make a game rival eve in any way, it's not going to be car sized ships with little tiny laser beams. Battleships aren't quicktime events. Shoot the weakpoints? Shoot the devs. |

combat is mindlessly fun which is all i care about when it comes to a game of this style ^^
def not a EVE replacement but a great way to edge off and go pew pew things ESPECIALLY in the instanced missions where the rubber banding is very minmal
any more then 12 players trying to kill NPCs and it gets pretty bad

Its very good, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done if its even going to compete with eve or sto, but the fact that its free to play MMO means a hell of a lot, it has to be the best looking and best free-to-play game i've ever experienced personally, but its a game that is so vastly different from eve you cannot compare the two in my opinion. The game players very much like the more traditional space games like x-wing and tie-fighter, the elite games ect... there is no point-and-click action, its all based on joystick reactions or mouse and keyboard, the cockpits views are very good, feel good, look good. The main gribe i have with it at the moment is there isn't anywhere to split pvp from pve, when you accept missions, at least for the state of the game where im at anyway you cant complete some of the missions because you only survive for about 10 seconds because of all the high lvl pvp ships that in the same instance as you, you only seem to get a choice of 3 instances for the main missions at the moment but im only a lvl 6 and i've only just got past the beginning so im still trying to figure some things out.
Ship setups and the way you use exuipment and modules is very much like eve fitting is, but its definitely different, like when you upgrade the cockpits sections, only certain ones allow you to mount missile launchers, wing sections allow you to mount certain types of weapons ect.. i dont know if you will be able to get different ships or not, from the looks of it all you do is upgrade your current ship and thats all you can do at this point, but in the introduction part of the game, there was one mission where you are flying a cargo ship, so who knows! but you can paint your ship, tho i couldn't really tell a difference personally.
The visuals really are amazing, and for that a lone you should at least give it a go, i'd reccomend everyone at least try it, it sure as hell wont be for everyone, but i think a lot of people will actually enjoy it a lot, as its only in beta in the U.S we dont have access to the game stop, which is where you actually spend your money if you want to survive in any decent ammount of time in a pvp fight, or get used to insta poped with one shots, i've heard the weapons they you actually buy are extremely powerfull, pvp'ing probably wont be worth it if you dont buy anything from the store.

Its worth a try, when i tried it i was glued to it for about a week straight, but then i took a step back and realised how repetitive the game was. It's a little fun at the start but then it takes ages to level up and pvp is all the same.
Problems i had with it: Some missions are bugged(even the ones that you can take from station hub) Early game pvp is unbalanced, MAJORITY just go Tyi faction and abuse explosive/projectile weapons as these go through shields and straight for the hull. Manufacturing is a pain. Again pvp, some quests require you to go kill X of Y at Z, these zones will have the other faction guys trying to kill you, you WILL get one shotted by some level 15+ guy when you are only level 6-8.
Good things: Has a cool storyline at the start YOU have the control of the ship(these are tiny compared to eve's frigates)
All in all, the game is alright, it's different from eve. Gets old fast though, especially with so many things not working properly.
