Hi
Some time ago, I was looking for corporation full of traders. I couldn't find that kind of corp, maybe it even doesn't exist.
I have some ideas how this corp should be organized>
*based on trust, but there should be rules to protect corp isk from scammers /ideas?/ *helping each other, sharing tips, tools, experience, with offices in main hubs *5-10 core members, maybe more + couriers *CEO + directors /one for every div/, market hub officers *Logistic division /trusted couriers with lowered or no collateral/ *Bulk trade division - bulk buy, bulk sell *Training division *Reprocessing division *Market division - market analysis /different region market logs comparison, *profit of the corp will be divided among trusted members based on shares /I don't know how shares exactly work/
Activities> *buying/selling on different regions /market+contract/ *market manipulations *cartel agreements
Looks like utopia, but I would love to join such a corp.
Pls. post here any ideas to improve corp organization/rules.

Sadly, the game right now lacks the necessary mechanics to make this really feasible.

Trading is largely a solitary activity. Join channels like SCC or Signatures or other channels if you want to talk to people at the same time, but there's really very little reason to work together as traders. The guy that steals the isk or ****s over the other traders will end up making more profit, and this will happen eventually. Courier services are available 3rd party and there is a bulk buy mailing list for that sort of thing. Reprocessing is something you can often find someone to do for you if you get to know people (hey if you have a character able to refine perfectly then perhaps offer it as a service yourself and get to know other people through it?)

I think you'd have to treat such a corp as if you owned a construction company, and hired day laborers from in front of a Home Depot for every job. Each member isn't really an employee, just a loosely affiliated contract worker.
I think there would be some strengths in such a corp, but trust would be a bad idea.

Akita T nailed it in one shot. The game does not support many of the kinds of controls that would be required. When you go through thinking about the kind of co-operative endeavors you can do within the limits of the game's mechanics... disheartening is the nicest way to describe it. The only way for such corporations to work is to place specific bottlenecks and place people of trust in those spots. Efficiency is negatively impacted due to growing bureaucracy; failure to act, and eventually overall disillusionment. Having a fluid & dynamic organization requires a large number of highly trusted (note I didn't say trustworthy!) operatives with a high risk of theft. And that, as the Bard would say, is the rub.

This. Even between your own alts in the same corp there's really no benefit using current corp mechanics to help trading.

U sure? Would many ppl not be able to undertake bigger endeavors leading to bigger profits? I was under the impression that ppl were already doing that .... joinning "forces" I mean.

Theoretically it could work, but as you pull together with other traders to "raise the price XYZ" pooling your resources 1 of the group will be undermining it dumping his stock onto your over priced market knowing you guys have agreed to buy up a certain amount of it, as just one example where it wont work. It's like game theory, cooperate and everyone wins a bit - but the guy that screws over everyone else first wins the most, and in a game with few consequences and lots to gain there is even more incentive to do the screwing than usual.

Most things in eve will provide diminishing returns at higher quantities. The only things I can see working in a different direction is market manipulation + speculation - enough isk to throw at items that would typically be beyond your reach and also supercap production etc ( but returns are ******ed anyway ) - Even these have diminishing returns EVENTUALLY. Theres only so many supercaps you can build before no one left to buy them, only so much you can manipulate before moving to worse items etc etc.
I feel the greatest benefit of working together is simply for price fixing/cartel, splitting areas fairly instead of 0.01ing everywhere etc. The benefits come from increased manhours/order slots etc not from increased capital.

As others have said, a corp won't work too well.
However, an alliance of trade corps would be able to cover a lot of the features you're looking for (but not all of them), while still protecting assets within each individual corp.

For me the idea of a trading corp or a bunch of traders each working different types of strategies would be pretty amazing. One way within my group that I have worked this out is by using the wallet divisions to separate and only take a certain amount of risk with trainees. I think that you have to have a graduated trust factor with the group. Secondarily instead of just letting the group have at it, you set boundaries and limits, ie assign each trader to a specific commodity group and or function. For the haulers I would assign specific regions. For traders I would assign specific hubs, commodities, and types of trading (ie. day-trading, regional, market manipulation, etc). Then of course you have to check on not only their results but also if they are staying within their specific spheres. Having a guy who runs your market in Jita for minerals as well as another who purchases ships, so on and so forth. That way you move the focuses outward and have commodity specific experts. But as you say - utopia...
