Hi, I've searched everywhere I could and haven't seen anything on this subject. So the question is...: Do neural remapings accumulate if you're not ever using them?
Thanks!

No.
Using one simply gets you a one-year cool-down before you can do a new one ù you are not "subscribing" to one remap a year. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

This person does not know what they are talking about. I have 3 available. so yes they do accumulate.

No they don't, you have 3 because they removed the learning skills but they still do not stack, they could accumulate but for some arbitrary design reason CCP doesn't want that to happen.

No, they do not accumulate. Yes, I know what I'm talking about.
The reason you have three available is because CCP gave you two to compensate for the sudden removal of the learning skills ù you do not have them because you saved them up, or because they've "accumulated" in some way.
And yes, you really need to read up on the topic at hand before saying these things, or you'll just end up looking very very silly.
The fact of the matter is this: remaps simply have a one-year cool-down period between uses. They do not accumulate if you don't use them. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Indeed.
A new player gets 2 remaps. The removal of the learning skills in dec 2010 got you one extra.
So no, (sadly) remaps don't accumulate. After using them you're always stuck with a certain attribute distribution for a full year. Which makes training charisma based skills quite a chore (I used the extra remap for that).

So the free remap given after the removal of the learning skills only enables a player to remap before his existing remap has run its full year?
Does a new player get to use his 2nd remap before his 1st remap has run its full year?
If I have two remaps available and I use the first one, I Still have to wait a year?
Being a bit slow in the head I'm struggling to see the benefit of these gifted remaps if you always have to wait a year.

You get a new remap after a year. You get the new one exactly one year after you used the last one avaibable, so if you have 3, the 4th will only be available 1 year after using the 3rd.
The benefit of more remaps is obvious: you can train int/mem for 9 months, remap to cha/wil (for example) for 3 months and then remap to per/wil for all your gun and spaceship command skills.
Personally I don't really see the use of remaps after the 1st few, if you already covered most of your int/mem support skills at the start, there's not that much benefit in investing a whole year into them again (unless you want to do a 180 degrees career swap and become an industrialist). Charisma skills - there's just far too few of them to justify a full year (unless you're totally into social, trade, corp management, PI and leadershuip - and even then). ________________* - If you're in favour of a bloodline change please vote in the Assembly Hall in this thread - |

A lot of confusing replies here, so here's my version:
A new character starts with 2 remaps. All characters received +1 remap in December 2010, which added a remap to whatever number they had (if they had zero, they now had 1, if they had 1 they now had 2, etc.)
You will not receive more remaps as long as you have at least one, and will only receive a new remap 1 year from the time you use your last one. If you have more than 1 remap, you may use your remaps however often you like until you have none left.

I had 1 remap after using the +1 remap in dec 2010. I now have 2 remaps.

If I'm not mistaken there was a hitch when assigning the free remaps, and CCP re-ran the process a day or so later. If you were quick enough, you may have used the remap before that and you got a new one. (That or it's a bug, or you're mistaken.)
All this "I this, I that" isn't very interesting, as people or even the game can be wrong/bugged. A single alleged deviation from a game mechanic does not mean the game mechanic is different.
Just to reiterate, under normal circumstances remaps will not accumulate and you will only get another remap one year after using your last remaining remap.
