Since the Alliance Tournament is starting on the 9th of June according to the announcement, there is barely more than 2 months for us to organize our time, test and theory-craft setups. Last year we started testing in February when the rules were made, and we still found ourselves short on time. It is incredibly crucial that we also get a decent notice period on if there is going to be a rule like last year where the characters and corps had to be in the alliance for x number of days before the tournament. It's vital that we are informed of the rules as soon as possible, especially if the rules are going to be drastically different from the previous year.
Thanks. ---

Agreed. If you want the players to even take the AT seriously you need to be more forthcoming with announcements regarding it. One as crucial as rules should not be left so late. ------

I asked CCP to give us clear rules for the Fanfest PvP tourney where we were competing for 4x Alienware laptops. The rules about the ships and items we got were vague at best and there was no explanation about how the capture mechanic worked or what the arena size was and distance between warp-in points and beacon. The end result was everyone flying basically the same setup with not much diversity.
I hope you guys get some clear rules made by people who have not only read about pvp in Eve but actually lived it.

Hey guys,
Fanfest put a little dent in usual flow of tournament run-up and pre-planning this this year, but we are done with that now so expect to see announcements on rules, signups, format and everything in the very near future.
For those worried about the notice period from last year (ie how long you were in corp/alliance) - we will of course make that fair and not jump something unreasonable on you (like making it start 1 day after the rules go out or something)

I would agree with this. We need the rules, and we need them soon.
The later the rules get released, the harder it is for smaller alliances to compete. We need to know the rules so we can establish fleets, know the isk levels we need to achieve, know who can fly and who can't, ( time in alliance rules ), and myriad other things.
Releasing the rules late does not equally affect all teams. Large alliances with to all intents and purposes no resource restrictions or pilot restrictions will shrug and move on. I do feel that I can respond in a short period of time to a rules release, but I do know that it will make me sweat more than a big group would.
The other frustration is that this was easily avoidable. Firstly, I am given to understand that Claw left CCP. While I understand that he was a big part of the Alliance Tournament, that was awhile ago, and it should have been possible to slot someone into his responsibilities. Failing that, which I think is a hard thing to do unless you aren't trying, CCP could have just said "we're too busy to modify rules, so we'll go with Alliance Tournament 8 rules", and most of us would have accepted that.
We also do not know other things, like price to enter, how many slots are for random draw, whether there is a buy in, etc.
It is really not acceptable for all of these things to be unknown to us as we near 60 days until launch of tournament. Please get on the ball with this. When I see things like this being left on the wayside until the last minute, even though I truly love this game, I do feel as if perhaps some of the things we enjoy in the game are not considered as very important by CCP.
Apologies if this post seemed harsh. It is something I feel strongly about and something I feel CCP could have avoided, and something I hope they are working to rectify in the next day or so.

Whoa buddy. Think that is a bit harsh of a sentiment. Aside from the comment about smaller alliances, I'd say that guy has a reasonable point. Not entirely sure where you are going with all that rage mate, but I think a heart attack might be lurking in the future for you.
That's very unDude...

Edited by: Palolko Dwimer on 04/04/2011 23:38:01 Well, maybe its time to finally set up 'long term' plans for future ATs. Lets do them once a year, always in December - just for example (on second thought, its quite cold on Iceland in December, June would be better). AT and funfest being two major 'happenings' in EvE Universe, sounds logical they deserve more planing.

In before half-assed set of rules that lacks essential information and point balancing, followed by 30 page threadnaught full of questions and rage.
Seriously CCP, all you had to do was to
- rebalance the point system (make frigs, cruisers, hacs and bs[other than bhaal/mach] more viable, and make adjustments on the faction ship points).
- make point system more flexible(a ship could cost 2.5 points for example).

It is getting a bit ridiculous. This isn't a big thing to do.
Take the team that makes the rules, go to a bar, have some arguments, and hash it out. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours. This is the 9th iteration of the tournament, it isn't like you are going into this blind.
Why do I get the sinking feeling the rules are late in coming because the new person in charge is implementing mega changes?
64 days now. Every morning I wake up and say "surely CCP has the rules coming out today" and every day I end up being wrong.
Get on the ball. Please.
