EVE Report recently sat down(virtually) with The Mittani, Chairman of the incoming CSM6. We asked him about his campaign for the CSM, his reactions to being election , his thoughts on the community and so much more. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed hearing it from him.

Funny. CSM5 applies common accountability, one of his brosefs gets butthurt by it, Mittens throws Hilmar's instruction of "calling bull****" (see CSM5's open letter) out of the window already. Oh this is going to be a sad but emberassingly entertaining csm term.

Edited by: Mister Rocknrolla on 05/04/2011 15:36:12 I think the chairman needs to learn the difference between the ôvoting populationö and the ôplayer population.ö Nullsec pilots amount to just over 11% of the player population. I wouldnÆt call that a player mandate, but getting elected definitely showed a voter mandate.
Secondly, regarding the supposed numerical significance of his win: He received 10.9% of the votes cast. CSM5s chairman received 10.4% of the votes cast. A statistically insignificant difference, in my opinion. And if one believes the chatter about the nullsec bloc mobilization, which the chairman obviously does, then his win is even less significant.
Personally, I donÆt know whether the term will be better or worse than the previous term, but it will certainly be different. It IS interesting that he criticizes the naivetT of CSM5, then discusses his grand plan for CSM6. WeÆll see how things change when the unstoppable force meets the immovable object.

I bet you're one of those people who shamelessly complains about an incumbent but never actually got up to vote for the other guy on election day.

Actually, I've voted in each of the last three CSM elections. Don't misread my statement as any sort of criticism. I was just observing that in the interview, the chairman discusses "players" electing him, where it was actually "voters" who elected him, that's all.

Again, another possible misunderstanding. I am in no way knowledgeable about alliance politics. In my (apparently not so obvious statement) I meant to refer to the CSM as the unstoppable force and CCP as the immovable object. What that link you posted is, I don't know.

For all intents and purposes the players who cared enough to vote are the player base. People who choose to disenfranchise themselves have only themselves to blame if they only later do not feel like they are being represented.

Sorry, link was a article about how another supposedly immovable object (the biggest single alliance in eve, formerly Band of Brothers) fell to an unstoppable force headed by our dear chairman. But this is the devs we are talking about so it might take more a thousand maelstroms to move em.

Quote: 7.) CSM 5 has largely been declared to be the most successful CSM to date, what will you do to try and continue on with their success? By not being politically or commercially naive. No bridge-burning open letters about business inevitabilities like Incarna; no tantrum resignations.
Again, your question demonstrates the ridiculous assumption that the community of bloggers who supported CSM5 have ælargely declaredÆ anything. A larger player population û the population which seized control of CSM6 û looked at CSM5 with an expression of outright horror.
I like how he calls out a "ridiculous assumption" and then promptly makes one of his very own. I have my qualms with the previous CSM but they also got a lot of good things done. All I can hope for right now is that the current CSM does just as good or better and hopefully "Mittani" will lead them to do that. Unfortunately my hopes aren't too high in that regard but I wish them the best anyway. NO BOOBIES LEFT BEHIND! |

Other than a bunch of hilarious drama and a lot of hot air about some stuff nobody cares about what, exactly, did they accomplish?

Personally I follow George Carlin's philosophy that when you vote you buy into the process and thereby surrender your right to ***** about the outcome. I didn't vote for CSM to maintain my right to complain.
"I have solved this political dilemma in a very direct way: I don't vote. On Election Day, I stay home. I firmly believe that if you vote, you have no right to complain. Now, some people like to twist that around. They say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain,' but where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians, and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote -- who did not even leave the house on Election Day -- am in no way responsible for that these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess that you created."
So there.

For a start they made sure that micro transactions would only be used for vanity items... remember when the idea of plex for remaps came up? Task force on lag after the demonstration of module lag during fleet fights. A pledge that incarna will not slow down 'spaceship' stuff such as docking and changing ships. There's 3 major ones straight off the top of my head.
It pretty rude how dismissive Mittani is of CSM 5's efforts, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he struggles when he realises quite how much hard work it is.
